一、教学目标：

1.  知识目标：

It’s in the west. 单词Mexico  Canada

能口头运用____is in the east / west /north /south of   语句  说明地理位置。

能识别单词 Mexico , Canada 并能写单词here .

2.  能力目标：讲述某个地方的地理位置和相关的基本信息.。

3.  情感目标：通过两人合作,描述各省所在的方位，培养学生合作学习的精神。

二、教学重点难点：两人合作,描述各省所在的方位. in the north/ south/east /west of

三、教具：图片，单词卡、课件，磁带。

四、教学过程：

Step 1.Warming up

Show a picture and say : Look at this photo . It’s my son . He is on the Great Wall .

Tell me more about the Great Wall .

 Ask : where is it ?  how long is it ? Ask four students  .Write down their answers on the blackboard .

Step 2  New words

Show the pictures of Canada ,America , Mexico . ask  What’s it about.. . It’s about ……Ask four students .Write down their answers on the blackboard .

Teach the words Canada ,America , Mexico

Step 3  Where is it ?

 Show a map of the world , This is a map of the world . Ask : Can you find America ?  where is America ? where is Canada , , Mexico ?   Show them on the map . Ask four students .Write down their answers on the blackboard .

  Help them answer : It’s here .     It’s north /south of America .

Color the words : north ,south ,  show them on the map (up and down )

  Show the pictures of the city of New York and san Francisco . ask  what’s it about ? It’s about _  Ask four students .Write down their answers on the blackboard .

Teach the words : New York  , San Francisco

    Show a map of America . Say :This is a map of America . Ask : Can you find New York ? Where is New York ? Where is san Francisco ? point it on the map . Ask four students .Write down their answers on the blackboard . It’s here . It’s in the east of America . It’s in the west of America .

   Color the words : east ,west . show them on the map . ( right and left )

Step 4 .  Let’s play .

Show the words :east, south, west, north on the map then chant :

Up is north, north ,  north  , north,

Down is south, south , south , south,

Right  is east, east ,east, east,

Left  is west,  west ,west, west.

老师领读后,根据口令做动作:Please turn to north.

 Please turn to south.

Please turn to east .

Please turn to west.

Step 5. Listen and answer :

Play the tape .Ask the students look at the map of activity1 ,Ask them write down the names of countries or cities on their paper . Then play again and repeat .  Answer :

Where is New York?           It’s in the east of America.

What about San Francisco?      It’s in the west of America.

Where is Mexico?            It’s south of America.

句型比较：Where is New York? It’s in the east of America.

　　　　　Where is Canada? It’s north of America.

（引导学生发现这种表达与第一种表达法不同.因为加拿大和墨西哥在美国领土以外,所以表达方法不同.）

Step 6 . Do the exercises .

1.长春在中国的北方。

2.中国在世界的东方。

China is _______________of the world .

3.美国在世界的西方。

America is _____________ of the world .

 4.海南在上海的南方。

 Hainan is _______________ of Shanghai  .

Step7 . Group work

 Show some photos of Chinese cities . and a map of China .

What’s it ?  Where is it?

 Point it on the map of China .

Write down the answers on their paper .

Ask and answer each other .

Step 8 . Listen the chant .

1. SB Unit2活动3听录音模仿语音语调,特别注意句子中的重音部分.
