What Is Scial Media?
Nt many peple ask the questin "what is scial media?" anymre. Scial media has been arund fr years nw, and mst f us wuld prbably describe it as any Internet medium that can be used t share infrmatin with thers, including blgs, frums, applicatins, games, websites and ther stuff.
But let me ask yu this: what exactly is s "scial" abut sitting befre a cmputer setting up a blg and blgging fr days withut anybdy reading it, r scrlling thrugh yur Facebk feed f infrmatin frm 500 friends yu barely knw? If yu ask me, it can be way mre anti-scial than anything.
Scial media is nt a "thing". It's nt just Facebk, WeChat and Weib. It's mre f a frame f mind and a state f being. It's abut hw yu use it t imprve yur relatinships with ther peple in real life. Hwever, we tend t rely n technlgy and scial media s much that it can actually tear apart thse relatinships.
Scial media isn't abut numbers. When smene says "scial media," web giants like Facebk, Twitter, WeChat and Weib instantly pp int ur minds, ften because they have mre updates, mre friends, mre fllwers, mre links, mre phts, mre everything. We tend t get distracted by the number game, thinking "vlume, vlume, vlume". It's led t a lt f meaningless nise and infrmatin verlad. As the ld saying ges, quality ver quantity is usually the way t g. S, scial media is nt just abut lts f peple aimlessly pushing arund lts f infrmatin.
Scial media needs t have an "IRL" factr—an Internet slang standing fr "In Real Life". It shuld affect hw a persn thinks r acts ffline. After all, scial media shuldn't be an end in itself. It was built t enhance yur actual scial life, in real life. Take fr example an event that a persn attends because they are invited by the hst n Facebk thrugh a Facebk event page. Smething like that definitely has the IRL factr. Likewise, a WeChat pht that tuches smene s much that they feel the need t bring it up and describe it t smene else during a dinner date als has the IRL factr.
S, is it really cnsidered t be scial t spend an hur scrlling thrugh phts n Weib, with n thughtful r emtinal effect and n interactin with thers? In fact, there is n wall between real life and Internet life where true scial media exists. Scial media is nt a specific place n the Internet r just a thing yu use t see what ther peple are ding. It's all abut creating meaningful experiences and relatinships wherever yu may be.

B.a set f scial tls like Facebk. WeChat and Weib
C.a cllectin f nline applicatins where ideas are exchanged
D.a grup name fr nline platfrms used t strengthen meaningful relatinships

A.Updating Facebk n a regular basis.
B.Fllwing new friends in real life n Facebk.
C.Visiting a museum with friends after reading a stry n Weib.
D.Reading Twitter t see what ther peple are ding and thinking abut.

A team f researchers at the University f Illinis at Chicag fund that t many kids are eating t much pizza and t many calries are ding harm t children's health.
"There are a lt f takeaways frm the study. But the biggest thing is that parents are serving their kids t much pizza," said Dr. William Dietz, ne f the study's authrs and the directr f the Sumner M. Redstne Glbal Center fr Preventin and Wellness at the Milken Institute f Public Health at the Gerge Washingtn University.
The researchers used data frm the Natinal Health and Nutritin Examinatin Survey, which tracked the diets f mre than 11,000 children and teenagers. Researchers figured hw many children eat pizza in the United States, hw ften they eat it, and hw much they eat when they d.
Pizza, pretty alarmingly, is the secnd leading surce f calries in the diets f America's children, next nly t grain desserts, such as ckies and ther sweets. On any given day, rughly 20 percent f all children aged 2 t 11 and adlescents aged 12 t 19 eat pizza. And when they d, they eat a lt f it. When children eat pizza, they eat rughly 400 calries, accrding t the study. Fr teenagers, it's upwards f 600 calries.
All that is pretty prblematic, accrding t Dietz largely because kids dn't tend t balance the pizza slices with salads, vegetables and ther mre nutritinal (有营养的) fdstuffs. Days n which children and teenagers eat pizza are nt nly assciated with cnsiderably higher intakes f fat, but als, quite simply, with mre fd: n average, children cnsume 84 extra calries n the days they eat pizza, while adlescents cnsume an extra 230 calries.
"When yu eat extra calries and dn't cmpensate (抵偿) fr them at anther pint f the day r week, it can lead t weight gain and even besity." Dietz said.
There is a silver lining. Pizza cnsumptin is still t high by nutritin standards, but it's lwer than it used t be. Cnsumptin (消费) fell by rughly 25 percent between 2007 and 2016, accrding t the study. Much f that has cme at dinner where it's fallen by 40 percent fr children and abut 33 percent fr teenagers. It's unclear whether the decline has been in cnnectin with a grwing cncern ver besity, especially amng the cuntry's yuth.
But the drp in pizza cnsumptin, while significant hasn't been big enugh "It's a psitive trend," Dietz said. "But we're nt quite them yet."
It's easy t see the appeal f pizza. It's cheap. Parents can buy a lt f pizza fr nt a lt f mney. Besides, they can buy pizza frm a chain shp, a mm-and-pp stre r a grcery freezer. And it's universally lved. The estimated 3 billin pizza eaten each year in the United States is a prf f the fd's unmatched ppularity. Given hw much the cuntry lves pizza, what's t be dne? Dietz suggests pizza with smaller serving sizes and healthier tppings (配料). "We're nt suggesting that kids avid pizza altgether." said Dietz. "But when parents serve it, it's imprtant that they understand it's extremely calric. They shuld serve smaller pizza, r at least smaller slices."
(1)Accrding t the study, the prblem with kids is that ____.
A.they are verweight B.they have t many takeaways

(2)Hw did the researchers get the result?

7.【答案】were waiting the after cnfident wrried Still their what smiling but
On the steps f a building"可知,学生们正在等着(进场)考试。

talk with sb.
wait fr sb. t d sth.
