Many parents wrry that their children’s use f electrnic devices will bring harm t their children, s they set strict limits n their use f electrnic devices. But there’s anther device-related danger that parents may be cmpletely ignring—secnd-hand screen time. With secnd-hand screen time, kids are indirectly expsed t screens being used by smene else clse t them.
Watching parents use their devices a lt frm an early age can lead children t becme addicted t them as they grw up, research suggests. Als, children are likely t shw mre acting-ut behavirs when parents spend t much time n their devices. Often, this is the nly way kids can get a parent’s attentin. Spending t much time n electrnic devices, especially in the presence f a child, als sends the message that the device is mre imprtant than the child. This can lead t a breakdwn in the parent-child relatinship.
This des nt mean that parents shuld nt use electrnic devices while their children are present. It des mean that parents need t set limits n their wn screen time, just as they wuld fr their children. Fr adults, devices are ften a necessary part f their wrk, as well as persnal tasks and activities. While cutting dwn n their screen time may nt be easy, it is wrth the effrt.
Parents can nw take sme practical steps t get started. One f the simplest is setting up certain times and places where devices wn’t be used. Fr example, device-free mealtimes are imprtant fr many reasns, and this is an easy way t limit the use. Other ideas include nt using devices in the restrm, when having a cnversatin with smene, r when playing games with the kids.
In additin, parents shuld nt use “d as I say, nt as I d” t send cnfusing messages t their children. We can tell kids that it’s imprtant t curb their device use, but if their experience with parents frm infancy n is watching them use devices frequently, they are much mre likely t fllw that mdel. Therefre, parents shuld set the right example fr their children.
What might cause secnd-hand screen time?
A. Children’s veruse f electrnic devices.
B. Watching parents use their devices a lt.
C. Strict limits n children’s use f devices.
D. Seeing strangers directly expsed t screens.
29. What is the secnd paragraph mainly abut?
A. The risks f secnd-hand screen time.
B. The frms f secnd-hand screen time.
C. The causes f secnd-hand screen time.
D. The features f secnd-hand screen time.
30. What shuld parents d t imprve the situatin?
A. Say n t the use f electrnic devices.
B. Make an effrt t play games with kids.
C. Try t reduce the amunt f screen time.
D. Find mre reasns t have meals with kids.
31. Which f the fllwing can be used t explain the last paragraph?

Yu’ve prbably heard smene lament (express disappintment abut) the state f “kids tday”: that current generatins aren’t as smart as the nes that came befre them. Hwever, researchers studying the Flynn effect have fund that scres n IQ tests have imprved ver time.
The Flynn effect, first described in the 1980s by researcher James Flynn, refers t the finding that scres n IQ tests have increased in the past century. Researchers studying this effect have fund wide supprt fr this phenmenn.
Researchers have put frward several theries t explain the Flynn effect. One explanatin has t d with imprvements in health and nutritin. Fr example, the past century has seen a decrease in smking and alchl use in pregnancy, discntinuatin f the use f harmful lead paint, imprvements in the preventin and treatment f infectius diseases, and imprvements in nutritin. As Sctt Barry Kaufman writes fr Psychlgy Tday, “The Flynn effect serves as a reminder that when we give peple mre pprtunities t prsper (成功), mre peple d prsper.” In ther wrds, the Flynn effect culd be partially due t the fact that we’ve started addressing many f the public health issues that prevented peple in earlier generatins frm reaching their full ptential.
Anther explanatin fr the Flynn effect has t d with scietal changes that have ccurred in the past century as a result f the Industrial Revlutin. In a TED talk, Flynn explains that the wrld tday is “a wrld where we’ve had t develp new mental habits, new habits f mind.” Flynn has fund that IQ scres have increased the mst rapidly n questins that ask us t find similarities between different things, and mre abstract types f prblem slving — bth f which are things that we need t d mre f in the mdern wrld.
The Flynn effect tells us that the human mind is much mre adaptable than we might have thught. It seems that sme f ur thinking patterns aren’t necessarily inbrn, but rather things that we learn frm ur envirnment. When expsed t mdern industrial sciety, we think abut the wrld in different ways than ur ancestrs did.
32. What is the real state f “kids tday” accrding t sme researchers?
A. They scre higher in IQ tests.
B. They are faced with mre IQ tests.
C. They get mre supprt frm sciety.
D. They are less smart than their parents.
33. What is the example in Paragraph 3 used as?
A. A researching apprach. B. A reminder f success.
C. The theretical explanatin. D. The practical experience.
34. Why des anther explanatin fcus n scietal changes?
A. Scietal changes result frm abstract questins.
B. Scietal changes help frm new habits f mind.
C. Scietal changes caused the Industrial Revlutin.
D. Scietal changes require peple slve mre prblems.
35. What wuld be the best title fr the passage?
A. Hw mdern industry advances
B. Whether the Flynn effect matters
C. Where the tw explanatins cme
D. Why the IQ f kids tday imprves

阅读第3遍:看词数(少于130个,从总分中扣2分);

瓦萨号在1961年被打捞出来,并被临时存放在Wasavarvet(“瓦萨船坞”)博物馆中。
