Analysis f the students:
The cre sentence pattern f this lessn is “Are there…?” “Yes, there are. / N, there aren’t.” and “There is/ are…”. “There is/ are…” has been learned in Unit 4. Students are required t use these sentences t describe cuntry life.
Analysis f the lessn:
This is the first lessn f Unit 5 which is a listening and speaking lessn. It fcuses n talking abut Cuntry Life which is clsely related t students’ real life.
1. Teaching gals:
1)Knwledge gal:
①Students can read the wrds: village, bird, happily, river, any, duck and catch.
②Students can read the sentences: There are many birds in the trees. There is a river near the village. Are there any fish in it? Yes, there are. / N, there aren’t.
2) Ability gal:
Students can describe cuntry life by using the wrds and sentences they learned in this class.
3) Emtin gal:
Encurage students t have sharp eyes t find beauty arund us n matter in the city r in a village. Encurage students t prtect ur envirnment.

Step 1 Greetings.
The teacher sends her greetings t the students. Talk abut the classrm t review the sentence patterns.

Step 2 Teaching prcedures.
The teacher Intrduces the title f this lessn.
Demnstratin: The sng is abut cuntry life. S tday let’s learn Unit 5 Cuntry Life Lessn 1 There is a river near the village. Then, “village” and “river” are taught.
Intrduce the backgrund infrmatin.
Demnstratin: Gu Yang, Jenny and Danny are ging t Gu Yang’s grandparents’ village. And let the students imagine a questin“What’s in a village?”
【Purpse: Aruse the students’ curisity t knw abut the village. Encurage them t speak English.】
3. The teacher plays the cartn f the text. Students watch the cartn and answer a questin: What's in the village?
Demnstratin: After watching the vide, students can answer the things they have seen in the vide: new huses, flwers, trees and birds. The teacher leads the students t describe with the sentences: There are many new huses (flwers, trees) in the village. Ask students “What’s in the trees?” New wrds “bird, happily” are taught. Remind the students the difference between “in the tree” and “n the tree”.
【Purpse: Lead students t have a general idea f the text. The questin is an pen-ended questin. The students can’t be stuck in a fixed frm when they answer. At the same time, lead students t learn the new wrds by phnetics and review the “ There be” sentences ,writing the key wrds n the bard.】
4. The teacher leads students t read the text by themselves t answer questins.
Demnstratin: Encurage students t read the text and try t answer tw questins. “Are there any fish in the river?” “What are the ducks ding?”. Learn the new sentence pattern “Are there any …?” and its answer “Yes, there are. / N, there aren’t.” Practice the new sentence pattern. The new wrds “duck” is taught. The secnd questin “What are the ducks ding?” The new wrds “catch” is taught.

2) Gu Yang writes a letter t his friend t intrduce the village. Lead the students t help Gu Yang finish the letter.
3) Encurage students t intrduce Lucy’s neighburhd.

What’s mre, this activity can effectively practice the sentence pattern. Help Gu Yang finish the letter can cultivate the students’ writing ability. Intrductin t Lucy’s neighburhd practice the sentence patterns and help students review the wrds learned in the last unit. This can als help students feel the differences between a city and a village.】
