1 content adj.满足的；满意的n．满足　vt.使满足

(教材原句)．..so they could feel more content with their lives.……于是人们就对自己的生活感到比较满足。

(1)be content to do sth(＝be willing/ready to do sth)乐于做某事；满足于做某事

feel/be content with sth(＝feel/be satisfied/pleased with sth) 对某事感到满意/满足

(2)content oneself with使(某人)自己对……感到满足

(3)content n．内容

(1)content作形容词时，通常作表语、后置定语或状语，作前置定语时要用contented，如a contented expression满足的表情。

(2)在充当表语表示“非常满意”时，用be well content而不能用be very content。

(3)entertainment n．款待；请客；娱乐；消遣

①He entertained us for hours with his stories and jokes.

 他给我们讲故事、说笑话，让我们高兴了好几个小时。

3 convince vt.使确信；使信服

(教材原句)The acting is so convincing that it makes you believe that it is one of the best meals he has ever tasted.

卓别林的表演是那么有说服力，以致于你会相信这顿饭是他所吃过的最美味的一餐。

(1)convince sb of sth 使某人相信某事  be convinced of sth/that...确信；坚信；深信

  convince sb to do sth 说服某人做某事

(2)convinced adj.坚定不移的；有坚定信仰的

(3)convincing adj.令人信服的

4 occasion n．时刻；场合

5 particularly adv.尤其；特别

be particular about/over sth 对……讲究/挑剔   be particular to do sth 特地做某事

今晚我没有什么特别的事要做，咱们出去散散步吧！

6 badly off穷的；缺少的

7 pick out挑出；辨认出；挑选

pick and choose 挑三拣四        pick through...在……中挑选

8 cut off 割掉，切断，使隔绝

cut in 插嘴；强行超车       cut into halves/pieces切成两半/碎片

cut up 切碎          cut out 剪除；删除

①The village was cut off by the heavy snow for more than a month. 这个村庄被大雪封闭了一个多月。
