A mother-of-three has won praise for her heartwarming method of helping her anxious son through his first day of school — by giving him a virtual hug.

Louise Mallett, 30, from the UK, feared her youngest baby Max would struggle to get through his big  day without her, so she drew matching love hearts on the palms(手掌)of their hands and told him that they could 'send hugs' to each other by pressing them.

After her plan turned out to be a success, Louise shared her idea on the Internet and her post soon went viral with thousands of parents praising her simple and beautiful idea.

Louise wrote"So, my youngest baby had his first all-dayer at school today, having been settling in sessions for the whole morning.

I could tell he was feeling a little emotional this morning go we had a chat and came up with the idea of having a heart each and if we pressed it, it sent a hug to the other one. It totally worked!

I drew a heart on both our hands and gave him a spare one on his arm in case the one on his hand wore off, we 'charged' them by holding hands on the way to school and when I picked him up I said ' Did you get my hugs?' and he happily said 'Yes!' He also said ' I pressed it fur a long time, but I didn't cry, ' so I said 'That will be that big squeeze I got. Did you get my big squeeze back?' and he said  " Yes! "

Proud mother Louise added: " Bless him, here's to many happier days at school while I sit at home with the dog and cry that all my babies are at school now... It's a hard decision to let him go, but I know he needs to socialize. "

Slowly but surely, we're moving closer and closer to 5G world. Here's what you need to know about the state of 5G right now.

Objectively speaking, the fastest 4G download speeds in the U. S. top out at an average of 19.42 Mbps. But 5G promises gigabit (千兆)speeds. Most of us have never experienced any-thing close to speeds that fast even Google Fiber tops out at 1 Gbps. And we're only talking about the first generation of 5G modems. Future chips will likely be even faster. It's not all about speed though. Part of the appeal of 5G is that it also brings much higher capacity to mobile net- works, meaning that networks will be able to support many more data connections. In addition, 5G is a huge upgrade over 4G when it comes to latency (延迟),or the amount of time it takes for data to be transmitted. Because 5G networks support extremely low-latency connections, devices will be able to communicate much faster than previously possible.

Put all this together and you begin to understand why 5G is such a big deal — and not just for the smartphone industry. It has huge implications for just about every connected device. The technology will be essential for self-driving cars, which will need to be able to communicate with  the world around them as quickly as possible. Lower latency and higher capacity means that cars will actually be able to communicate with their surrounding environment fast enough to enable them to actually be fully autonomous.

The downside of all this, at least initially, will be all that extra speed is likely to come at a higher cost. Though we've seen a lot of positive progress just in the last year, we still have a long way to go before 5G is anywhere near as pervasive(普遍的)as 4G is right now. Carriers and hardware companies are only just beginning to make commitments for 2019. But most in the industry agree that its popularity appears in 2020 at the earliest.

28.How is the second paragraph developed?

    A. By making classification. B. By giving examples.

    C. By making comparisons. D. By giving definition.

29.What's the purpose of mentioning self-driving cars in paragraph 3?

    A. To introduce 5G into the automotive field.

    B. To encourage consumers to buy self-driving cars.

    C. To emphasize the huge impact of 5G.

    D. To show the higher speed of 5G.

30.What does the underlined word "downside" in paragraph 4 probably mean?

    A.Mistake.    B. Drawback.     C, Difficulty.    D. Burden.

31.What can we infer from the last paragraph?

A.5G will probably be widely used in 2020.

B.5G will keep charging high fees for the foreseeable future.

C.The tech companies have been promising 5G's coming for years.

D.The carriers have not set about popularizing 5G yet.

    D

Imagine you are 10 years old. You live in a big city and want to visit your best friend, a five-minute walk away, and then you can go to the park, another 10 minutes' walk. The problem is that there's a big dangerous road between you and your friend, and another between your friend^ home and the park. When you ask your parents if you can walk there, they say no. But they are too busy to take you there themselves. Perhaps you have a video conversation with your friend instead, or perhaps you play a video game on the sofa. You've lost out on exercise and time outside and, of course, play time with your friend. This is the reality for many kids today — but it doesn't have to be this way.

Tim Gill, the author of No FearGrowing Up in a Risk Averse Society, says a child-friendly city is one that allows everyday freedom" , so a child can spread their wings as they grow, "It's not enough lo just talk about playgrounds and nice, pretty public spaces. That just creates play places that children have to be taken to by adults," says Gill.

Society's mistake, argues Gill, is that our planning system? Just focus on cars, house-building and the economy rather than the environment, health and quality of life. "You won't find any urban planners who can disagree with that. It' s because our decision-makers foil to look beyond the next two or three years.”

A recent report from Arup identifies four challenges for urban children: traffic and pollution, high-rise living, crime and social fears, inadequate and unequal access to the city.

Designing cities with children in mind — particularly outdoor spaces that encourage safe movement and social interaction — stands to be an issue of growing concern globally. By 2050 around 70 percent of people will live in cities, and the majority of them will be under 18. Today, over a billion children are growing up in cities.

32.What phenomenon is described in the first paragraph?

A.Addiction to video games.           B.Terrible traffic jams.

C.Absence of outdoor activities for kids.    D.Parents' improper behaviors.

33 What may the urban planners agree according to Gill?

    A. Their city planning is inappropriate

B.They are limited by their imagination

    C. Children lack public spaces

    D. People are exposed to low quality of life

    34. Why does the author mention the data in the last paragraph?

    A. To improve children's awareness of self-protection,

    B. To illustrate the changes of urban population.

    C. To stress the necessity of building more cities.

    D. To show the urgency of considering kids in urban planning.

35What is the text mainly about?

    A. Problems in modem cities.

    B. The call for a child-friendly city.

    C. Challenges faced by urban children

    D. The difficulties in planning urban systems.
