考拉，又称树袋熊，是澳大利亚特有的珍贵原始树栖动物。考拉体型粗壮，头大耳圆，无尾，毛被厚实，毛色从浅灰色到巧克力色不等。它们前足宽大，具有可抓握树枝的对生拇指和食指，后足第二和第三趾形成并趾用于理毛。作为食草动物，考拉主要以桉树叶为食，从桉树叶中获取大部分水分，因此很少喝水。受栖息地破坏、森林大火、疾病等因素影响，考拉种群数量呈下降趋势，已被列入《世界自然保护联盟濒危物种红色名录》，评估等级为易危。
