1. 故事评论的结构与功能
故事评论（stry review）是一种结合叙述与议论的文体。前半部分概述故事内容，后半部分表达个人看法。教材范文分为三段：第一段介绍故事和主要人物，第二段描述故事情节，第三段发表个人评论。写作时注意叙述与评论的比例，评论部分应占全文的三分之一左右。
2. 人物描写的三个维度
教材要求"详细描述主要人物（思想、语言、行动细节）"。思想（thught）：What des the character think? 语言（speech）：What des the character say? 行动（actin）：What des the character d? 三个维度结合可以使人物形象立体丰满。
3. 写作中的时态运用
叙述故事内容时用一般过去时（因为故事发生在过去），如 Tm wanted t g t the cave. 发表个人评论和看法时用一般现在时，如 I think Tm is very brave. 这是学生常犯的错误，需要特别注意。
4. 写作后的自查修改
教材提供了检查清单（checklist）：① 是否包含故事摘要和个人评论？② 是否详细描述了主要人物的思想、语言和行动？③ 是否使用了本单元词汇？④ 拼写、语法和标点是否正确？写作后逐项检查是保证质量的关键步骤。
