Carbn Emissins Cmparisn Table (kils per kilmeter)
      Tips fr Greener Travel
      ● Chse public transprt (bus, train) first fr daily cmmutes (通勤), which can cut individual travel emissins by ver 70% cmpared t cars with nly ne persn.
      ● Use electric vehicles (EVs) if yu need a private car — glbal EV wnership is expected t reach 145 millin by 2030. And EVs emit 80% less carbn than fuel-pwered cars ver their lifetime, with zer tailpipe pllutin.

In 2013, Brightn-based charity Stay Up Late launched a prgramme called Gig Buddies, which pairs autistic (自闭症的) peple with vlunteers wh share their interests, s that they can scialise tgether.
Since launching, the Gig Buddies has grwn frm a lcal idea in East Sussex t a glbal mvement, with mre than 20 prjects nw running acrss eight cuntries. Yet the need fr this wrk remains imperative. Peple with autism cntinue t face significant barriers t taking part in scial life.
The Gig Buddies aims t address that gap by matching peple with vlunteers wh are fully trained t accmpany them t events they wuldn’t therwise be able t attend. But this kind f scialising is mre than just getting ut f the huse t pass the time. Luke Ellis, the cmmunicatins crdinatr, explains that participants reprt a wide range f benefits, including increased cnfidence, making new friends, and bradening interests. And with lneliness increasingly mentined as a cause fr cncern in the general ppulatin, this is smething that everyne deserves access t.
As yu might imagine, the matching prcess is the key t the success f the prject. “In cmparisn with ther rganizatins, we meet with all new vlunteers and participants t get t knw their persnalities, interests, and needs. All vlunteers take part in ne day f training, cmplete reference, then meet with participants,” says Luke. Petet, wh jined the prject in June 2023. Fllwing this prcess, Petet was matched with a vlunteer called Ryan. “Frm being withdrawn (脱离) and lacking in cnfidence at his first scial, Pete is nw much mre pen and enthusiastic,” says Luke. “That summer, he jined us, dancing late int the night at ur special scial festival.”
At its heart, the Gig Buddies is a reminder that friendship shuldn’t be a special right. In fact, we all deserve a life rich in cnnectin.

Despite huge advances in cyber security, ne weakness cntinues t vershadw all thers: human errr. Research has shwn human errr is respnsible fr majrity f successful cyber attacks. A recent reprt puts the figure at 68%.
N matter hw advanced ur technlgical defenses becme, the human element is likely t remain the weakest link in the cyber security chain. This weakness affects everyne using digital devices, yet traditinal educatin and even new laws fail t address it. S, hw can we deal with human-centered cyber security related challenges?
There are tw types f human errr. The first is skills-based errrs, which ccur during rutine tasks when attentin is diverted — frgetting t back up data due t a busy schedule. Fr example, yu might frget t back up desktp data because yu needed t get hme early, r had lts f emails t respnd t, which may make yu mre expsed t a cyber attack. Secnd, knwledge-based errrs arise frm lacking imprtant knwledge r failing t fllw specific rules, such as clicking an unknwn email link, which culd lead t yu being attacked and lsing yur mney and data, as the link might cntain dangerus sftware.
Organisatins and gvernments have invested heavily in cyber security educatin prgrams t address human errr. Hwever, these prgrams have had mixed results. This is partly because many prgrams take a technlgy-centric, ne-size-fits-all apprach. Yet, they dn’t address the underlying psychlgical and behaviural issues.
The reality is that changing human behaviur is far mre cmplex than simply prviding infrmatin. This is especially true in the cntext f cyber security. Behaviural change requires nging investment int prmting awareness. Just because peple knwing best practices desn’t mean they will cnsistently apply them — especially when faced with cmpeting pririties (优先事项) r time pressures.
      28. What is prbably the weakest part in cybersecurity?
      A. Technlgy.B. Device.C. Human.D. Educatin.
      29. Which f the fllwing belngs t knwledge-based errrs?
      A. Frgetting t save a cpy.
      B. Having numbers f emails t answer.
      C. Failing t finish rutine tasks n time.
      D. Clicking a link frm an unknwn email.
      30. Why are cyber security educatin prgrams ineffective?
      A. They lack financial supprt.
      B. They adpt an verly persnalized apprach.
      C. They ignre mental and behaviral factrs.
      D. They fail t teach technlgical knwledge.
      31. What is the authr’s suggestin fr cyber security?
      A. Imprve technlgical defenses.
      B. Reduce time and wrklad pressures.
      C. Make new laws t punish digital errrs.
      D. Offer cntinuus training n awareness.
      D
A lng face isn’t the nly sign that smene is blue — hw peple walk als reveals their emtins, especially the swing f arms and legs, researchers say. Scientists fund that larger swings indicate anger, while smaller swings suggest fear r sadness.
“Walking is ne f the mst familiar and well-practiced whle-bdy mvements fr humans,” said Mina Wakabayashi, the lead authr f the study. “Because f this, changes in emtinal state may naturally appear in the way we walk.”
Fr the study, the scientists asked actrs t recall life events that caused anger, happiness, fear r sadness and then walk a shrt distance while thinking each memry. The participants wre tight clthing and reflective markers, allwing the researchers t create pint-light vides frm the side and frnt. Vlunteers then watched the vides and declared which emtin each pace represented. They recgnised all f the displayed emtins at better than the level f chance, the study fund. “T sme degree, the walkers’ intended emtins were indeed understd by the bservers,” the researchers write in Ryal Sciety OpenScience.
Emtins are likely t influence all manner f ther ways in which peple mve their bdies, and the Kyt team hpe t explre these in future wrk. “Being able t infer emtins frm bdy mvement may help us understand thers quickly during scial interactins, even withut wrds,” Wakabayashi said.
If scientists can reliably predict peple’s emtins frm their mvements, it culd help identify vulnerable r threatening peple, r lead t wearable devices that mnitr peple’s mental states. Researchers in Texas shwed last mnth that a machine-learning algrithm (算法) culd predict anger, sadness, jy and fear frm a persn’s walking, thugh with limited accuracy. Researchers nte that the way peple walk may be harder t fake than facial expressins r speech. Anther ptential applicatin is an “AI-based virtual aid” that reads emtins frm walking patterns and respnd accrdingly.
      32. What can we knw frm Mina Wakabayashi’s wrds in paragraph 2?
      A. Walking is a very unnatural actin fr humans.
      B. Peple with lng-shaped face tend t feel upset.
      C. Emtinal changes may be seen in peple’s walking.
      D. Whle-bdy mvements depend n the way peple walk.
      33. Hw did the scientists cllect data in the experiment?
      A. By filming the actrs’ walking.
      B. By recrding the actrs’ life events.
      C. By bserving the participants’ clthes.
      D. By cllecting the participants’ feelings.
      34. What is the last paragraph mainly abut cncerning peple’s walking?
      A. Its advantages.B. Expectatins fr future uses.
      C. Its appeal t scientists.D. New viewpints frm Scientists.
      35. What is the main idea f the passage?
      A. Walking speed is clsely linked t emtinal changes.
      B. Walking patterns can help predict peple’s mental states.
      C. Wearable devices t mnitr mental states are n the way.
      D. Ways t imprve peple’s cmmunicatins have been fund.
