      Ladies and gentlemen, thank yu fr having me here tday t talk abut Blue Sky Rescue. Let me begin with my wn stry.
      Back in 2008, I was hiking in the muntains with sme friends when ne f them fell and gt a bad head injury. We called the emergency (紧急救援) services, but it was already dark, and we culdn’t even see where we were. After sme time, we heard dgs barking and the vices f the Blue Sky Rescue team. I almst cried. We were s thankful that they fund us!
      I’ve never frgtten that day. Since then, I’ve wanted t help thers t. I signed up with Blue Sky Rescue in 2009, and I’ve been a vlunteer ever since. We’ve visited schls and cmmunity centres t teach children and adults hw t stay safe and prepare fr the wrst. We’ve als rescued peple during emergencies, given medical aid (医疗救助), and carried ut pst-disaster search-and-rescue peratins.
      Wrking as a vlunteer has taught me many practical life-saving skills. It has als shwn me the pwer f teamwrk—the key t any successful rescue. Mst f all, being a vlunteer has taught me the value f every life.
      The wrk is difficult. We ften g withut fd r sleep. But ur primary gal has always been t save as many peple as we can.       When a trnad is abut t hit, prfessinal strm chasers try and get clse t it t cllect imprtant infrmatin. Strm chaser Tim Samaras designed and built many different instruments fr studying trnades. Thrughut his career, the engineer chased dwn mre than 120 trnades.
      During a strm, strm chasers put special equipment (设备) in the way f the trnad. The equipment cllects infrmatin abut things such as wind speed and air pressure. This helps scientists t make better weather frecasts. It can even help peple understand hw pwerful the winds can be, and as a result, change hw we build ur huses.
      Strm chasing can be exciting, but als very dangerus. The strm chasers’ knwledge and experience are nt always enugh t keep them safe. On 31st May, 2013, Samaras and his team were chasing the El Ren trnad in Oklahma, USA.T their surprise, the trnad behaved (表现) in an unexpected way. It grew rapidly and changed its speed and directin.
      On that terrible day, the largest trnad appeared. It was 4.2 kilmeters wide and had winds tpping 480 kilmeters per hur. While the trnad was mving twards them, Samaras and his team were driving as fast as they culd. Sadly, when the trnad hit their car, it threw their car int the air like a ty. All three men in the car died.
