      Grandma Mses is amng the mst celebrated twentieth century painters f the United States, yet she had barely started painting befre she was in her late seventies.       Grandma Mses painted a little as a child and made embridery(刺绣) pictures as a hbby, but nly switched t ils in ld age because her hands had becme t stiff(僵硬的) t sew and she wanted t keep busy and pass the time. Her pictures were first sld at the lcal drugstre(杂货店) and at a fair(展览会), and were sn sptted by a dealer wh bught everything she painted.
