The mangrve wetlands(红树林湿地)f Shenzhen's Putian and Hng Kng's Mai P are very valuable. Every year, many waterbirds fly frm East Asia t Australia. These wetlands are a key place fr them t rest. These years, Shenzhen and Hng Kng have wrked tgether t prtect these imprtant wetlands.
Why are these mangrve wetlands s imprtant? Because they are like nature's prtectrs. They make a natural wall, prtecting casts frm big strms(暴风雨). Besides, the thick frest f mangrve trees prvides a perfect hme fr birds. They build nests there and lk after their babies.“Even during strms, baby birds are safe in the mangrves,” said Simn Wng frm Hng Kng's nature team. What's mre, mangrves help take in CO₂ and clean the water. As a result, they are helpful fr bth nature and humans.
T prtect the wetlands tgether, Shenzhen and Hng Kng have used different ways since 2023. One f them is t prtect birds' hmes with the help f mdern AI technlgy. Thanks t their effrts, the ppulatin f endangered birds in the wetlands has grwn. Fr example, there were nly abut 300 black-faced spnbills (黑脸琵鹭) arund 30 years ag. Nw there are nearly 7,000.
In Nvember 2024, the tw cities started a new part f their teamwrk. The Internatinal Mangrve Center (IMC) in Shenzhen pened. Shuld Schl Start Later?
Since 2018, the Chinese educatin departments have already made a rule that primary and middle schls shuld start later in the mrning. Studies shw that when schls start befre 8:30 AM, students ften get less than the recmmended 8-10 hurs f sleep. Nt having enugh sleep can lead t pr cncentratin (专注), lwer grades, and even health prblems. We askea frm students and an expert abut schl starting time. Here's what they said:

One f the ldest prjects, Dujiangyan in Sichuan Prvince, built in 256 BC Befre Christ), still wrks tday. Unlike dams that stp rivers, it uses nature t cntrl flds and water the farmland, turning Sichuan int the"Land f Abundance(天府之国)". Later, the Grand Canal(京杭大运河), the wrld's lngest man-made waterway, linked nrthern and suthern China, making trade and farming faster and easier.
In mdern times, China is a wrld leader in waterpwer. The Three Grges Dam(三峡坝), the wrld's largest pwer statin, makes clean electricity and stp flds. Anther huge ne, Baihetan Dam, uses new technlgy t make mre energy with less pllutin. These big dams d many gd things—— they stre water frm causing flds, prduce electricity, help bats travel and bring turists, making life better fr many peple.
Lking t the future, China will build mre dams in Tibet's Yarlung Tsangp River(西藏雅鲁藏布江) area. Old dams will get new smart imprvements t. These include cmputer-cntrlled water systems, autmatic fld gates and cleaner pwer machines. The new technlgy makes dams wrk better while keeping nature safe.

Ten years later, peple fund abut 4,700 new sea species(物种).Since then, high technlgy has been develped t help explre the deep sea. But why is deep-sea explratin still s difficult? Well, it is freezing at greater depths, everything is cmpletely dark, and the pressure(压力)can be ver 1,000 times greater than that n the surface.
Althugh we have many difficulties, it's imprtant t understand the seas. They help cntrl the Earth's temperature and prduce half f the xygen in the air. They can als tell us abut climate change.
