Shanghai—Shanghai fficials are welcming a new natinal-water law that they say will help them prtect the upper reaches f the Huangpu River and ther water ways in Shanghai.
The new law, which came int effect yesterday, updates a law enacted(颁布) in 1988 that fcused n supplying water t needy areas, but didn’t pay a great deal f attentin t envirnmental prtectin.
