形容词和副词最高级的构成
1. 一般情况下在词尾加-est。
2. 以不发音的字母e结尾的单词在词尾加-st。
一、单音节词和部分双音节词的最高级的构成方法：
large largest
ld ldest
3. 重读闭音节词尾只有一个辅音字母时， 先双写该辅音字母，再词尾加-est。
4. 以“辅音字母+y”结尾的双音节词，把 y变为i，再词尾加-est。
在单词前加mst。

二、多音节词和部分双音节词的最高级的构成方法：
The superlative 最高级
最高级有规律,词尾加上 -est。结尾若有字母e,直接加上 -st。辅音字母加y,y变i,再加 -est。一辅重读闭音节,末尾字母要双写。形、副单词多音节,须把 mst 前面贴。
(注:“多、双音节”指多音节词和部分双音节词。)

The superlative 最高级常用句型
(1)“主语+be +the+形容词最高级 +in/f短语”意为“……是……中最……的”
e.g. Tm is the tallest in his class/f all the students. 汤姆是他班上/所有学生中最高的。【注意】 在表示最高级的句子中常 含有表示比较范围的in或f。in后一般接表示单位或场所的名词;f后一般接表示-群人或事物的代词或名词。
(2)“主语+实义动词(+ the)+副词最高级+in/f短语”意为“……是…中最……的”
e.g. I jump ( the ) farthest in my class/f all the students. 我是我班/所有学生中跳得最远的。
(3)“主语+be +ne f the+形容词最高级 +可数名词复数 +in/f 短语”意为“……是……中最……的……之一”
e.g. Beijing is ne f the largest cities in China. 北京是中国最大的城市之一。
(4)“疑问词(组)+ be+the+形容词最高级,A, B r C?”用于三者的比较。
e.g. Which cuntry is the largest, China ,Brazil r Canada? 哪一个国家最大,中国、巴西还是加拿大?
(5)疑问词(组)+助动词+主语+动词原形(+the)+副词最高级, A, B r C?

(6)“the+序数词+形容词最高级+名词意为“第几最……的…”
e.g. The Atlantic Ocean is the secnd largest cean n Earth. 大西洋是地球上第二大洋。

比较级表达最高级的含义
(1)“比较级+than any ther+可数名词单数”意为“比其他任何一个…都……”,强调在同一范围内作比较。
e.g. China is larger than any ther cuntry in Asia.= China is the largest cuntry in Asia. 中国是亚洲最大的国家(说明:中国在亚洲,应和亚洲的其他国家相比)
(2)“比较级+than any+可数名词单数意为“比任何……都…”,强调不在同一范围内作比较。
e.g. China is larger than any cuntry in Africa.中国比非洲的任何国家都大。 (说明中国不在非洲,应和非洲的所有国家相比)
(3)否定词与比较级连用可表达最高级的含义。
e.g. —What d yu think f the TV shw?你认为这个电视节目怎么样? —Great! I have never seen a better ne. 棒极了!我从没看过(比这)更好的电视节目。
