The Secret t Staying Yung
Dlphins are smart, playful, and energetic animals. Yu can ften see them racing each ther and jumping ut f the water. Why are dlphins always s full f energy? New research may have fund the answer: friendship!
Dlphins live in grups called pds. A pd varies in size. It can be small—just tw dlphins—r huge, with up t 1,000 members. But a pd is nt simply a grup f dlphins; it is a small sciety. Within that sciety, dlphins frm friendships, much like humans d.
Scientists recently studied a pd f bttlense dlphins in Shark Bay, Australia. They fcused n 38 male (雄性的) dlphins whse chrnlgical ages (实际年龄) they already knew. They cllected their skin tissues (皮肤组织) t study their DNA and estimate (估算) their bilgical age. The result was surprising: Male dlphins with mre clse friends aged mre slwly. This means tw dlphins culd be the same age, but the ne with strnger friendships had a “yunger” bdy.
Why might friendship help? Researchers think having clse friends may lwer stress. When dlphins stay with friends, they feel relaxed instead f wrried. Friends can als team up t find fd and stay safe frm predatrs (捕食者).
Fr dlphins, friendship is nt just fun; it is the key t living well.
