Mndays. Me? I always cunted trash days. Each time I rlled the green, heavy bin dwn the driveway, I
cnsidered it ne f the mst intlerable jbs f a Navy wife.
Occasinally, a neighbr wuld take pity n me and replace my trashcan back t the side f the huse after the
garbage men were dne with it. And nce, when I had maggts in the bttm f the bin, a few men frm the
neighbrhd were nice enugh t dispse f them and Clrx, the trashman, did nt tell me abut the whle

“It takes a village t d Sarah’s trash,” ne neighbr, Stanfrd, jked. “And smetimes it als takes a village

Surprisingly t me despite ding my lawn every week and ccasinally my trash and hme repairs, these

Every year, ver 14 millin tns f plastic waste end up in the wrld’s ceans, accrding t the UN
Envirnment Prgramme. This waste kills millins f marine animals each year, pllutes fragile castal ecsystems,
and breaks dwn int micrplastics that enter the fd chain and reach the human bdy. Mst f this plastic cmes
frm single-use packaging, designed fr days f use but able t persist in ceans fr hundreds f years. Nw,
scientists and startups wrldwide are turning t an unlikely slutin t this glbal crisis: fungi.
At the heart f this innvatin is mycelium (菌丝体), the rt-like structure f fungi. Made f tiny thread-like
filaments, mycelium grws by feeding n rganic matter, binding int a strng, flexible, fully bidegradable
material. T make fungal packaging, manufacturers use agricultural waste (wheat straw, rice husks, sawdust) as a
grwth medium, mix it with mycelium spres, place it int mlds, and let it grw in a cntrlled envirnment fr
5-7 days. It is then heat-treated t stp grwth, frming a lightweight, durable packaging made withut harmful
chemicals, high temperatures r massive energy input.
Unlike plastic that never fully breaks dwn, fungal packaging is 100% bidegradable. It decmpses in sil in
30 days, and mst imprtantly, fully breaks dwn in seawater within 3-6 mnths, leaving n micrplastics r txic
residues. This makes it an ideal replacement fr plastic packaging used t transprt seafd, csmetics and
electrnics, majr cntributrs t marine plastic pllutin.
Majr cmpanies wrldwide are adpting the technlgy. A Dutch startup FungiPack uses it fr seafd
shipping, while Chinese firm MycGreen prduces it fr electrnics, reprting a 70% reductin in carbn
emissins cmpared t plastic prductin. It still faces challenges: higher cst than mass-prduced plastic, and pr
water resistance. But with nging ptimizatin, it will sn becme a viable alternative t mst cean-bund
      plastic.
“Plastic was a miracle inventin, but we frgt t design materials fr the end f their life,” says Dr. Jane
Zha, a Tsinghua University materials scientist. “Mycelium wrks with nature, nt against it. That’s the future f
      sustainable packaging.”
28.What is the biggest advantage f fungal packaging ver traditinal plastic?
      A. It is cheaper t mass-prduce B. It can be reused many times
      C. It can fully degrade in seawater D. It has a lnger service life in wet areas
29.What can we infer abut the prductin f fungal packaging?
      A. It has a lwer carbn ftprint than plastic
      B. It depends n high-quality farmland
      C. It requires a lt f fresh water and heat
      D. It is mre cmplex than plastic prductin
30.What des the underlined wrd “viable” in paragraph 4 prbably mean?
      A. Rare and valuable B. Cheap and abundant
      C. Cmplex and advanced D. Practical and functinal

      A. Neutral B. Dubtful C. Critical D. Optimistic
      D
Hw d we cme t make sense f ur daily lives? Hw can we gain a strng grasp f wh we really are and
hw we fit in the wrld? And hw can we naturally cnnect t imprtant nes in ur lives? “Life stries are ne f

Humans are natural strytellers. We use stries t understand ur present, draw insights frm ur past, and

have lasting impacts n children’s cgnitive(认知的)and emtinal develpment.
Children and teenagers learn hw t talk abut their lives frm family stries. An early example is learning
hw t present a detailed stry with a beginning, a middle, and an end—t give it a clear structure. Further, they
learn what is apprpriate t talk abut r avid and what feelings are apprpriate t share ver dinner r ut with
      thers.
When grwing up, we use ur life stries t build cmplex and stable views f urselves. Thrugh stries
abut the traditins maintained ver the years, we make cnnectins between past successes and failures, ur
relatinships, and the activities that hld meaning t us t develp ur new identities. These identities reflect ur
rles as family members, cmmunity members, c-wrkers and s n, thus helping us have a mre cmplete view
      f urselves.
Having a lasting impact n urselves and thse arund us, life stries are filled with meaning, insight, and
value. By the way, what’s the stry that stands ut t yu frm a recent meal r chat?
      32. Why des the writer ask three questins in the beginning?
      A .T explain a general idea. B. T give backgrund infrmatin.
      C. T intrduce an argument. D. T reprt the finding f a study.
      33. What des the underlined wrd “underscred” in Paragraph 2 mean?
      A. Cast dubt n. B. Attached imprtance t.
      C. Shwn cncern fr. D. Thught prly f.
      34. Hw can life stries help frm a cmplete view f urselves accrding t the writer?
      A. By maintaining scial ties. B. By rebuilding ur identities.
      C. By cnnecting ur past and future. D. By learning frm family members.

One Saturday mrning, Grandma and I drve t Mrs. Hendersn’s Bakery — the ldest ne in ur small
twn. Grandma had been wanting their maple nut bread fr weeks, and she’d prmised t buy me a giant cinnamn
(肉桂) rll if I helped her carry the grceries later. The bakery smelled like warm butter and cinnamn as we
pushed pen the wden dr and the bell abve the entrance rang sftly.
As I leaned against the glass case t lk at the giant cinnamn rlls, I nticed a by standing a few feet
away. He was abut 10, tw r three years yunger than I. He had messy blnd hair and wre an ld blue jacket
that was t small fr him. His fingers were pressed lightly against the windw and his eyes were fixed n a giant
cinnamn rll. Every time he breathed, a small clud f fg frmed n the glass.
Just then, Mrs. Hendersn said t the by sharply, “Kid, windw-shpping is nt allwed — we’re busy
      with rders.”
The by jumped back like he’d been burned, and his face turned red. Hwever, he still glanced at the giant
cinnamn rll frm time t time.
Driven by smething in my heart, I walked t the by. He lked a little frightened at first, but when I asked
him if he liked cinnamn rlls, t, he ndded shyly.
“Actually, it’s fr my little sister,” he said almst in a whisper. “Tday is her birthday... and she talked abut
cinnamn rlls when we walked past the bakery last mnth. I have saved my pcket mney fr a mnth, but I nly
have $1.25… but a cinnamn rll csts $3.”
Seeing Grandma examining freshly baked bread, I thught abut the cinnamn rll I had been prmised, the
ne I culd almst taste. Then I lked at the by’s hpeful and wrried face.

      A
      21. B 22. C 23. A
根据Smebdy’s Daughter部分“Ashley C. Frd talks abut grwing up as a black
gird in Indiana, dealing with pverty, the cmplexities f adlescence, and a tense relatinship with
her mther. She ften wished that she culd express her feelings with her father, but failed fr
A Swim in a Pnd in the Rain 部分“He discusses what makes great stries,
hw they wrk, and what they say abut urselves and tday’s wrld.”(他讨论了是什么造就了伟
Sprts legend Billie Jean King writes a self-prtrait that talks abut
the highs and lws f her amazing tennis career, her wrk in activism, and the nging fight fr
故选 A 项。
      4
      B
      24. D 25. B 26. A 27. C
It takes a village t d Sarah’s trash,” ne neighbr, Stanfrd, jked.
“And smetimes it als takes a village t change Sarah’s flat tire, t kill big bugs in her living rm,
and t fetch her sn’s ty airplane that landed n the rf.” Hearing his wrds, I wndered if I wasn’t
being strng enugh and if I shuldn’t take my title f “Navy dependent” s literally as t mean I
Dn’t be silly,” my neighbrs wuld say. “We’re glad t help.” Mre
than hanging a flag frm their drs, they said helping a Navy family made them feel like they were
Instead f fcusing n the things I was nt ding myself, my
neighbrs were in awe at the things I had dne alne. And mst f these things (caring fr sick
babies in the middle f the night, dealing with emergencies), I had dne withut my realizing it r
故选 A。
I learned that being strng and independent desn’t necessarily
mean ding it all. There are few peple wh can d everything themselves. Mst peple are eager t
ffer help, which they think rewarding.
      C
      28. C 29.A 30.D 31.D
A 项目
Life stries are ne f the prime tls we have fr understanding
urselves and the wrld arund us(生活故事是我们了解自己和周围世界的主要工具之一)”可推
Sharing bedtime stries and talks after schl, r walking
thrugh an event that left a yung child crying—these are all pprtunities fr parents and children
When grwing up, we use ur life stries t build cmplex
and stable views f urselves. Thrugh stries abut the traditins maintained ver the years, we
make cnnectins between past successes and failures, ur relatinships, and the activities that hld
meaning t us t develp ur new identities. These identities reflect ur rles as family members,
cmmunity members, c-wrkers and s n, thus helping us have a mre cmplete view f
Life stries are ne f the prime tls we have fr understanding
urselves and the wrld arund us(生活故事是我们了解自己和周围世界 主要工具之一)”、第二
段“Sharing bedtime stries and talks after schl, r walking thrugh an event that left a yung child
crying—these are all pprtunities fr parents and children t becme clser thrugh warmth,
When grwing
up, we use ur life stries t build cmplex and stable views f urselves. Thrugh stries abut the
traditins maintained ver the years, we make cnnectins between past successes and failures, ur
relatinships, and the activities that hld meaning t us t develp ur new identities.
Having a lasting impact n urselves and thse arund us, life stries are filled with
      36. G 37. F 38. D 39. A 40. E
Parents usually think f all the
      8
wrk and respnsibility having a pet culd bring abut.(父母通常会考虑养宠物可能带来的所有工
G“Hwever, allwing kids t keep a pet can teach yu
      bth sme imprtant lessns.(然而,让孩子们养宠物可以给你们俩上一些重要的课。)”
Give yur child a sense f respnsibility by having them help meet these needs,
whether they feel like it that day r nt.(让你的孩子帮助满足这些需求,让他们有责任感,无论
“All pets need t be fed, given fresh water, and exercised regularly.(所有的宠物都需要喂食、饮用
38.前文“If yu’ve ever been frced t keep up with a yung dg r cat, yu knw hw tiring it can
By encuraging yur child t play with his r her pet, bth f them will get the
exercise they need t sleep sundly and live healthy and happy lives.(通过鼓励你的孩子和他或她
D“But yu can use the pet’s energy t yur advantage.(但你可以利用宠物
的能量)”为转折句,在句意上“advantage”呼应后文“sleep sund and live healthy and happy lives”,
根据后文关键词“an essential first step tward develping
lifelng empathy fr thers(这是培养终身对他人的同理心必不可少的第一步)”,“Learning hw t
      9
be a gd friend with a pet will teach ne hw t be mre pen and friendly t ther peple as well.(
选项 A“Treat thers well.(善待他人。)”
故选 A 项。
E“Als, sme pets
can be very aggressive with children.(此外,一些宠物对孩子也很有攻击性。)”
      41.C 42.D 43.A 44.B 45.C 46.D 47.A 48.B 49.D 50.
      A 51.C 52.B 53.C 54.D 55.A
A. jgging
accmpanied my father, pedaling there frm ur huse t a neighbrhd stre.”
