In general, media cmpanies find it hard t get venture capital (风 险 资 本 ) — the risk-reward balance is ften disappinting. “It’s an industry where yu make hundreds f thusands f bets, and maybe nly ne wrks,” Shah says. Her team culd nt find a business wner with a gd plan. S Shah decided t start her wn. Mnths later, she turned the idea int a real business plan, and Unin Square Ventures gave the first part f $9.3 millin in funding.
As fr what keeps listeners interested in this timeless medium, Jnah Willihnganz, directr f the Stanfrd Strytelling Prject, says that while “film always shws yu smething that yur eyes and mind have t wrk hard t understand”, audi takes away this extra sensry effrt, letting peple truly enjy the stry. “It feels very, very clse, the cnnectin between vice and listeners. That clseness has a timeless appeal,” Willihnganz says.
In early 2025, Meet Cute was bught by a big cmpany. Shah says this purchase has been the “mst amazing” part f her career. Language transfer happens when individuals apply their knwledge f ne language t anther language they are learning. There are tw primary types: psitive transfer and negative transfer. Psitive transfer ccurs when the structures r rules f the nativelanguage (L1) are similar t thse f the target language (L2), while negative transfer happens when the structures r rules f L1 differ frm thse f L2. Fr example, Chinese learners ften wrngly say “I dn’t knw where is he r I dn’t knw he is where” instead f the crrect “I dn’t knw where he is” because f negative transfer frm Chinese wrd rder.
Language transfer is unavidable, which reflects the learners’ attempt t acquire a new language by relating it t their existing linguistic (语言的) knwledge. The mre similar L1 and L2 are, the mre likely psitive transfer is t ccur. Higher skills in L1 can lead t mre bvius language transfer, whether psitive r negative. Frmal instructin and interactin with native speakers can affect hw language transfer appears. Learners’ cgnitive (认知的) styles and learning strategies can influence their reliance n L1 when learning L2.
It is ntewrthy that negative language transfer can lead t errrs in L2 prductin due t the influence f L1 structures r rules. It als causes the lasting presence f L1 features in L2, hindering fluent and accurate cmmunicatin in the lng run. Fr instance, a native English speaker learning French might struggle with the crrect use f French gendered wrds due t the lack f a similar grammatical feature in English.
T minimize the negative effects f language transfer, every educatr can emply several strategies. Highlighting the differences between L1 and L2 can truly address ptential mistakes in advance. Raising learners’ awareness f ptential areas f negative transfer and prviding crrespnding drills can help eliminate errrs. Timely and cnstructive feedback n learners’ errrs can help crrect lng-term wrng habits and reduce cnfusin. Encuraging learners t take risks and view errrs as learning pprtunities can reduce anxiety related t language transfer.
Which sentence shws the negative transfer f Chinese?
A.I abslutely lve Tim.B.Nthing is impssible.
C.Bill very likes English.D.Out cmes a stranger.
What kind f language learners are mre likely t have language transfer?
Thse prficient in mther tngue.
Thse gd at language translatin.
Thse familiar with grammar rules.
Thse skilled at interactive methds.
What des the underlined wrd “hindering” in Paragraph 3 mean?
Facilitating.B.Ceasing.C.Establishing.D.Blcking.
What is the last paragraph mainly talking abut?
The differences between L1 and L2.
Hw t lighten negative transfer.
The methds f remving bad habits.
Hw t perceive negative transfer.
In the pre-digital era, frgetting was the default. T preserve a memry, ne had t take a phtgraph, write in a diary, r cnsciusly cmmit an event t mind. Tday, the situatin is reversed: remembering is the default. Every digital ftprint — frm scial media psts t lcatin data — is stred indefinitely in the vast “clud.” While this ttal recall ffers cnvenience, it als threatens a fundamental human capacity: the ability t mve n frm ur past. Viktr Mayer-Schönberger, in his bk Delete, argues that human frgetting serves a critical bilgical and scial purpse. It allws us t filter ut irrelevant infrmatin and, mre imprtantly, t evlve beynd ur past mistakes. When ur every yuthful errr is preserved frever in a searchable digital recrd, we risk being “frzen” in time, judged by wh we were rather than wh we have becme. This “digital permanence” can discurage individuals frm
taking risks r expressing uncnventinal ideas fr fear f future repercussins.
Furthermre, the cnstant presence f ur past can distrt ur present. Psychlgical research suggests that the act f utsurcing ur memry t devices — a phenmenn knwn as “cgnitive fflading” — may actually weaken ur internal recall. When we knw a piece f infrmatin is saved nline, ur brains are less likely t prcess it deeply. We becme masters f finding infrmatin, but slaves t the tls that stre it.
Restring the balance requires a cnscius effrt t reintrduce “frgetting” int ur digital systems. This culd mean “expiratin dates” fr certain types f data r privacy laws that grant individuals the “right t be frgtten.” Technlgy shuld serve as a tl fr human flurishing, nt a digital cage that keeps us trapped in an unchangeable past.
What des the authr mean by “remembering is the default” in Paragraph 1?
Peple are nw brn with better memries. B.Digital infrmatin is autmatically saved. C.Frgetting has becme an impssible bilgical task. D.Mst peple prefer t keep their diaries nline.
Accrding t Mayer-Schönberger, what is a negative effect f “digital permanence”?
It makes irrelevant infrmatin harder t prcess.
It helps peple learn mre quickly frm their errrs.
It frces individuals t repeat their past mistakes.
It may prevent peple frm grwing and changing.
What des the “cgnitive fflading” mentined in Paragraph 3 result in?
A.A deeper understanding f digital tls. B.An increase in ur brain’s strage capacity.
C.A decline in ur ability t remember things internally.
D.A better balance between wrk and persnal life.
What is the authr’s main message in the text?
Human develpment requires a healthy balance between remembering and frgetting.
We shuld appreciate the cnvenience brught by the “clud.” C.Digital strage shuld be expanded fr future generatins.
D.Privacy laws are the nly way t prtect ur digital ftprints.
第二节(共 12.5 小题;每小题 1.5 分,满分 22.5 分)

Last night, I heard a stry that left me thinking: a friend was driving hme late n a rainy day when a cat suddenly dashed ut frm the shadws. Befre he culd put n the brakes, he hit the cat. As he std by the side f the rad, shaken, his first thught was: “It was just an accident — I didn’t mean it.” 36. The questin has stuck with me like a fish bne in the thrat.
Neurscience ffers a clue: ur brains are wired t prtect ur sense f being a “gd persn.”
A similar phrase is “I had n chice”, which als allws us t avid facing the cmplexity f ur decisins.
In the days that fllwed, he culdn’t shake the guilt. He replayed the drive endlessly in his mind, and gradually, a different truth emerged: he had been tired, he’d taken a shrtcut that he knew was prly lit, and he had been checking a text message just mments befre. 39. In the end, he psted abut the incident nline, n lnger calling it an “accident”, and even made a dnatin t a lcal animal rescue.
His stry reveals a crucial truth: accidents are ften the result f a series f chices we make rather than pure randmness. In ur daily life, we use “it is an accident” cnstantly. 40. Mre ften than nt, we cannt blame the rain, the cat’s sudden dash, r any ther external factr — there are n real excuses. Instead, we must separate chices frm accidents. True respnsibility lies in acknwledging ur chices.
These set the stage fr the tragedy.
Hw can we lighten ur mral lad?
We truly bear n respnsibility fr the utcme.
But the label “accident” ffered him n real cmfrt. E.Life may happen t us, but it desn’t fully excuse us.
Why d we reach fr the wrd “accident” s quickly?
Calling smething an “accident” ften serves this purpse.

I stared at the wrinkled pster n the classrm wall, my heart sinking like a stne. The schl’s annual cmmunity service fair was nly a week away, and my grup’s prject — rganizing a bk drive fr the lcal children’s hme — was stuck in a mess. As the grup leader, I’d cnfidently prmised t cllect at least 200 bks, but s far, ur dnatin bx sat empty in the crner, laughing at my vercnfidence.
“It’s nt yur fault,” Mia, my mst respnsible teammate, said gently as she wiped dust ff the bx. “Everyne’s just busy with midterms.” But I knew the truth: I’d rushed the planning, skipped making reminder flyers (传单), and assumed peple wuld simply shw up with bks. When ur class presentatin abut the prject ended with awkward silence instead f enthusiasm, I chse t d nthing t imprve the situatin, t prud t ask fr help.
On Wednesday afternn, I passed the children’s hme n my way hme. Thrugh the irn gate, I saw a little girl sitting n the steps, hugging a wrn picture bk s tightly that her fingers turned white. Her eyes lit up as she ran her fingers ver the wrn pages, and suddenly, my embarrassment turned int a sharp guilt. I’d let these kids dwn — nt because f midterms, but because f my wn carelessness and pride.
That evening, I sat at my desk, staring at the empty dnatin list. I thught abut calling the teacher t quit, but the image f the little girl with the wrn bk stpped me. I pulled ut my ntebk and started drafting new flyers, this time adding hand-drawn illustratins and a persnal nte abut why the bks mattered. At 9 p.m., I hesitantly sent a message t my classmates — I messed up the bk drive planning, but these kids deserve better. Wuld anyne help me try again?
I held my phne, nervus abut their respnses. Wuld they laugh at my failure? Ignre my request? As minutes went by, my hpes faded—until the first reply shwed up.
