Experts have identified a psychlgical mechanism that drives the increasing demand fr feedback. Reviews, in reality, functin as a frm f scial prf, influencing peple’s decisins and behavirs. This tendency is ften seen in herd mentality, where individuals seek t fit in with the majrity t avid pr decisins.

Hrses use their larynx (喉) t make tw sunds simultaneusly, s they are effectively singing and whistling at the same time.
It has lng been knwn that a hrse’s whinny cntains bth a lw-frequency sund, arund 200 hertz, and a high-frequency sund, abve 1,000 hertz. The lw-frequency cmpnent is easily explained by vibratins in the hrse laryngeal vcal flds (声带), similar t human speech r singing. But the high-frequency sund is unusual fr such a large animal, and hw it is prduced has been a mystery.
“Althugh humans have been c-existing and c-evlving with hrses fr 4,000 years, we still understand their cmmunicatin imperfectly,” says Thmpsn Fitch at the University f Vienna, Austria.
T slve the puzzle, Fitch and his clleagues first perfrmed a range f tests, scans and experiments n hrse larynges btained frm a hrse meat supplier. “We blew air thrugh them and initially we nly gt the lw cmpnent,” says Fitch. “But with sme playing arund, we were able t btain the high-frequency cmpnent as well.” This shwed that bth cmpnents are prduced by the larynx itself, unlike human whistling, which is perfrmed with the lips.
Fr further prf f the whistling mechanism, the researchers blew air and helium, tw different gases, thrugh the larynges. By cmparing these gases, the researchers culd test whether the high-frequency sund came frm whistling r frm tissue vibratins.
“The lw-frequency cmpnent is prduced by vcal fld vibratins, just like human singing r a cw ming, and it didn’t shift when we changed between gases,” says Fitch. “But the high-frequency cmpnent did significantly shift t be higher in helium, just as predicted fr whistles.” Mice and rats can als prduce laryngeal whistles, but in their case it is at a frequency t high fr humans t hear.
Fitch and his clleagues assume that the whistle may make the whinny mre nticeable and may help the sund carry further, but these guesses haven’t yet been tested.
32.What des a hrse use t make lw-frequency sunds?
A. Lips.
B. Tngue.
C. Muscles.
D. Vcal flds.
33.Hw did Fitch’s team perfrm the study?
A. By studying hrse tissue vibratins.
B. By identifying functins f hrse lips.
C. By cmparing cmpnents f tw gases.
D. By blwing gases thrugh hrse larynges.
34.What did Fitch’s study finally test?
A. The whistling mechanism f hrses.
B. The functins f hrse whistling.
C. The high-frequency sund f hrses.
D. The existence f laryngeal whistle.
35.What is the best title fr the text?
A. Different Functins f Hrse Larynx
B. The Evlutin f Hrse Vcal Flds
C. The Secret Behind Hrses’ Unusual Whinny
D. Hrses: The Ability t Make Different Sunds
