It is reprted that half the wrld's frests have already been destryed. This widespread destructin(破坏) is due t defrestatin(采伐森林). Defrestatin is the remval f a frest r grup f trees where the land is later transfrmed t a nn­frest use. Cutting dwn trees is necessary fr man's survival. Hwever, defrestatin has a number f negative effects n the envirnment and needs t be cntrlled.
There are tw main purpses fr cutting dwn trees and ne f them is t use the trees as resurces. Essential items like paper, furniture and charcal are all made frm trees. Defrestatin is als carried ut t clear land fr farming and t make rm fr rads and huses. As the ppulatin grws, mre f the frest has t be cleared.
Althugh defrestatin is necessary up t a pint, it has sme negative effects n the envirnment. Firstly, cutting dwn frests destrys animal habitats, leaving them with n place t live in. Defrestatin als allws ersin（滑坡） t ccur, which leaves the land easy t landslides and makes it difficult fr plants t grw there. Finally, the remval f trees als wrsens air pllutin. Trees act as natural air filters that change carbn dixide int xygen. When they are remved, carbn dixide （二氧化碳）can build up and pllute the atmsphere. Hence, it is bvius that defrestatin harms the envirnment.
Due t the harm defrestatin causes, it is necessary t cntrl it. There are a number f ways t d this. One f them is t make better use f farming land. That means we d nt need as much land fr farming, and hence d nt need t cut dwn s many trees. There must als be laws t limit defrestatin and these laws must be enfrced strictly. On tp f that, refrestatin must be carried ut systematically（系统地）. This methd invlves planting new trees and plants in areas where defrestatin has ccurred t replace what was destryed.
