Fllwing fur mnths f training, Fu Zai nw can take advantage f his shrt legs t directly prbe beneath the car and easily get int and search narrw spaces. He can als imprve interactins between plice dgs and the public because f his amiable appearance. "Plice dgs are nt nly cute, but trainers have dne a lt f wrk and effrt t train them." said Wang.
Fu Zai is still naive as a reserve plice dg and must underg a perid f further training t adapt t the cmplex envirnment befre he will be fficially appinted and given assignments.

Many things can nw be bught using buy - nw, pay - later (BNPL) financing. Such purchases are ften the subject f ridicule (嘲笑). Paying fr lunch in installments (分期付款) is, t sme, cnsumerism at its mst absurd. Others see smething darker: lending that skirts the edge f mainstream finance, targeting unstable brrwers. Neither ridicule nr anxiety has weakened the industry's grwth, hwever.
The idea f a lan at the pint f sale is an ld ne. In 1856, Isaac Singer and Edward Clark began selling sewing machines in installments, with great success. The mdern industry perates in a similar manner. When a custmer buys a prduct fr 100,theycanpayinstages.TheBNPLlenderpaysthemerchantinadvance,inexchangefracutf,say,3. This is attractive t retailers (零售商), since it bsts sales. The custmer pays back the sum ver time, with zer interest.
BNPL plans prmise freedm and flexibility, but the ease f use can fl ur minds. When payment is delayed r divided int smaller payments, we are wired t feel less emtinally exhausted. Althugh the £15 r $25 payments seem insignificant, they quickly add up. Prelec & Lewenstein fund that when the act f paying is separated frm the act f purchasing, we experience less "pain f paying", which makes us mre likely t verspend. This psychlgical discnnectin allws peple t underestimate the lng - term cst f their spending and ften leads t impulsive financial decisins. In scieties where digital credit is easily accessible but financial educatin is limited, these behavirs can develp int chrnic debt.
Stress ver mney desn't stay in the bank. It fllws us int ur hmes, ur relatinships, and even ur sleep. The psychlgical cst can be severe when financial strain affects daily survival, such as paying fr fd, husing, r educatin. Even middle and high incme earners reprt significant mental distress when caught in cycles f lifestyle - driven debt because f the pressure.
      28. What can we learn abut the BNPL industry frm paragraph 1?
      A. It faces n public criticism.B. It replaces mainstream finance.
      C. It targets pr brrwers.D. It maintains strng grwth.
      29. What is the prbable reasn why retailers favr the BNPL service?
      A. It prvides payment in advance.B. It charges minimal fees.
      C. It generates mre prfits.D. It ffers interest - free lans.
      30. What results frm reduced "pain f paying"?
      A. Higher spending gals.B. Mre unplanned purchases.
      C. Lwered lng - term csts.D. Imprved financial decisins.
      31. What is the authr's attitude twards BNPL?
      A. Supprtive.B. Critical.C. Objective.D. Subjective.

A tiny wireless chip placed at the back f the eye, cmbined with a pair f advanced smart glasses, has partially restred visin t peple suffering frm an advanced frm f age - related macular degeneratin (AMD). In a clinical study led by Stanfrd Medicine and internatinal cllabratrs, 27 f the 32 participants regained the ability t read within a year f receiving f implant.
The implant, named PRIMA and develped at Stanfrd Medicine, is the first artificial eye device t restre usable visin t individuals with therwise untreatable visin lss. The technlgy enables patients t recgnize patterns, a level f visin knwn as frm visin. "All previus attempts t prvide visin with artificial devices resulted in basically light sensitivity, nt really frm visin," said Daniel Palanker, "We are the first t prvide frm visin."
The system includes tw main parts: a small camera attached t a pair f glasses and a wireless chip implanted in the retina. The camera captures visual infrmatin and prjects it thrugh infrared (红外线的) light t the implant, which turns it int electrical signals. These signals substitute fr the damaged phtreceptrs (感光器) that nrmally detect light and send visual data t the brain.
Participants in the latest trial had an advanced stage f AMD knwn as gegraphic atrphy (萎缩), which prgressively destrys central visin. This cnditin affects ver 5 millin peple wrldwide and is the leading cause f changeless blindness amng lder adults.
The implant, measuring just 2 by 2 millimeters, is placed in the area f the retina where phtreceptrs have been lst. Unlike natural phtreceptrs that respnd t visible light, the chip detects infrared light emitted frm the glasses. "The prjectin is dne by infrared because we want t make sure it's invisible t the remaining phtreceptrs utside the implant." Palanker said. This design allws patients t use bth their natural surrunding visin and the new artificial central visin at the same time, imprving their ability t rient themselves and mve arund.
      32. What can be inferred abut initial artificial eye devices?
      A. They targeted patients with early macular degeneratin.
      B. They helped patients regain the ability t read.
      C. They failed t help patients recgnize basic shapes.
      D. They tried t rely n visible light t transmit signals.
      33. What is paragraph 3 mainly abut?
      A. Hw the PRIMA system wrks.B. Hw the damaged phtreceptrs functin.
      C. Hw the infrared light transmits signals.D. Hw the smart glasses capture images.
      34. Why des the researcher use the infrared light?
      A. T imprve light sensitivity.B. T cure gegraphic atrphy.
      C. T fit the remaining phtreceptrs.D. T avid affecting natural visin.
      35. Which f the fllwing is the best title fr the passage?
      A. A new cure fr blindness.B. A new trail fr PRIMA.
      C. A new hpe fr AMD patients.D. A new breakthrugh fr visin.

37 Fr starters, metablism is mre than just "hw many calries yu burn". It's the vast netwrk f chemical reactins inside yur cells and tissues that pwer everything yu d. Still, mst f us reduce it t a single number: the calries burned at any given time.
That's where "metablic rate" cmes in — the primary measure f hw fast yur metablism is running. In simple terms, it's the energy yu use just lying still, the bare minimum yur bdy needs t keep the lights n. 38
Many peple think slim individuals have a fast metablism. They believe this lets them burn calries withut effrt. 39 Metablic rate is mstly driven by bdy size — the mre there is t maintain, the mre energy the bdy uses.
Even s, bdy weight alne is a rugh measure. Tw peple weigh the same, but hw that weight is made up can make a big difference. The balance between fat and muscle cmpsitin shapes metablic rate t. 40 This helps explain why men ften have higher metablic rates than wmen at the same weight, and why metablic differences aren't as dramatic as we think.
      A. S what exactly defines metablism?
      B. But that's nt really hw the bdy wrks.
      C. Men have much mre active muscle than wmen.
      D. Bdy size plays a mre imprtant rle than muscle.
