Peng Shilu was brn in a family f heres in Haifeng, Guangdng in 1925. When he was less than five years ld, his parents died. The yung by was taken care f and prtected by the pr and he mved between different families and lived a difficult life. The peple’s kindness influenced him deeply at his early age.
In 1940, Peng Shilu was taken t Chngqing. Later, with the help f the CPC (中国共产党), he went t study in Yan’an. In 1951, he went abrad t learn chemical engineering. When he cmpleted his studies, he gt an excellent grade.
In 1956, Peng Shilu was asked, “Are yu willing t change yur research field?” “Of curse, as lng as the mtherland has a need!” With the strng belief, Peng Shilu began t study nuclear pwer at nce. In the early 1960s, China’s develpment f nuclear submarines (核潜艇) was almst a “blank”. Peng Shilu and ther scientists were learning, explring and practicing.
