Pickleball (匹克球), a relaxing sprt that has been arund fr many years, is becming ppular in China. Especially, yung peple are grwing interested in the game.
“Pickleball has been played nt nly in big cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, but als in smaller cities as well,” said Zeng Gubia, directr f the China Liaisn Office f the Internatinal Pickleball Federatin (国际匹克球联合会驻中国联络办公室). Yung peple in Anhui, Shandng, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhu and Yunnan prvinces are als interested in the sprt and setting up clubs, he added.
The sprt f pickleball was invented in 1965 in the US. It is a game in which tw r fur players hit a wiffle ball (威浮球) ver a net. It lks like tennis but is played n a badmintn curt (球场) with a bat. The rules f the game are simple withut running needed, making it easy t start fr players f all ages and skill levels.
Zhu Mingha, wh wrks fr a cmpany in Chngqing, started t play pickleball in May. “As a sprts lver, I have tried many sprts and gt several serius wunds, s I decided t play pickleball, which is safe,” he said.
Zhang Xin started the Chengdu Pickleball Club last year. Besides safety, he said the sprt f pickleball is fun and it is cmpetitive (竞争的) like badmintn. He als added that pickleball is a ppular sprt. Everyne can play it.
