Trags reached ut t the artist, hping t d it as a surprise t her family. Heber cmpleted the painting in just three days. “Our hmes are s much mre than physical things,” says Heber. “I’m happy t create these gifts fr the places that held s much life and memry.” The meaning f hme was f great imprtance t Heber because she had mved frequently as a child.
Actually, Heber was always thinking abut ways she culd cntribute after the fire. When she surfed nline, an Instagram pst caught her eye in which anther lcal artist ffered t draw peple’s hmes fr free, and she was inspired (启发) . She has since created mre than 25 paintings, including ne fr Jeremy Wineberg, whse hme was als destryed. Like Trags, Wineberg was nly able t take a few small things befre he had t flee, leaving mst f his belngings behind.
“They were nt just things; they were a part f me and I just feel s lst,” says Wineberg. “Hwever, the painting prvided cmfrt.” He said Heber made a beautiful memry that lks exactly like a pht. What cmes t mind when yu hear the phrase “dress fr success”? Perhaps it’s a n-brainer fr yu — wearing a nice suit s thers will take yu mre seriusly. But the truth is mre cmplex (复杂的) and imprtant. Hw we present urselves desn’t just change hw thers see us. It als changes hw we see urselves — and that can influence hw we act.
A recent study shws this pint well. When peple believe that they lk better, they act mre kindly. They even dnate twice as much t the pr as thse wh d nt feel the same way. The researchers find that when peple feel gd abut their appearance, they believe mre peple will ntice them. This encurages them tward mre generus (慷慨的) and helpful scial behavir.
This new finding mirrrs what scientists call the “hal effect”: it is cmmn fr peple t believe that thse wh lk gd als have ther psitive qualities. In this way, they are mre likely t be treated kindly r trusted. Hwever, the new discvery is that this effect als wrks inwardly. When we feel we lk gd, we dn’t just benefit frm thers’ psitive pinins. We start t behave in ways that strengthen them. This change can begin early, as research shws even children are kinder t thse wh are “nice-lking.”
In shrt, ur self-image and ur genersity are clsely cnnected. This can create a psitive feedback lp (反馈循环) : feeling gd abut ur appearance builds up ur cnfidence, which shapes ur behavir in a psitive way. In turn, the psitive feedback frm thers strengthens ur psitive self-image. Therefre, dressing fr success is nt just abut being seen by thers. It is abut becming the kind f persn wh encurages kindness — bth in yurself and in thers.
      8. Why des the authr mentin wearing a nice suit in Paragraph 1?

      C. It shapes ne’s character.D. It leads t self- centered behavir.
      10. What is the new discvery abut the “hal effect”?
      A. Its effect is self- directed.B. Its pwer wrks n thers.
      C. Its basis is thers’ kindness.D. Its influence is always strng.
      11. What is the best title fr the passage?
      A. Dress fr Cnfidence: Feel GdB. Dress fr Cnfidence: Impress Others
      C. Dress fr Success: Gain RespectD. Dress fr Success: Encurage Kindness
      D
New research suggests that using infrmal language can make the AI chatbts less accurate (精确的) in understanding what yu mean. This raises a questin: shuld we change hw we speak t AI, r shuld AI get better at understanding us?
Researchers have fund that peple cmmunicate quite differently with AI chatbts cmpared t human. When talking t chatbts, peple are likely t use simpler grammar, fewer wrds, and are generally less plite. This is because we think chatbts are nt gd at understanding cmplex language and scial situatins. But cnversatins between humans are mre frmal and use a wider vcabulary, allwing fr rich and nuanced cmmunicatin.
Hwever, using infrmal language with chatbts has a disadvantage. Researchers trained an AI mdel mstly n frmal cnversatins between humans. They fund that this AI struggled t accurately understand the meaning f the infrmal messages users sent t chatbts. This shws a gap between the data (数据) used fr AI training and the reality f human-AI cmmunicatin, which can lead t misunderstandings.
T imprve the AI’s understanding, the researchers experimented with rewriting the infrmal messages int mre frmal language. Interestingly, this didn’t always lead t better results. Smetimes, it made the AI even wrse. It was nly when the AI was trained n bth infrmal and frmal language that its perfrmance shwed imprvement. This suggests that AI mdels need t learn a variety f language styles t effectively understand human cmmunicatin.
Nah Giansiracusa at Bentley University says he isn’t surprised that peple talk differently t chatbts than they d t humans, but it isn’t necessarily smething t be avided. He believes it’s a psitive sign that peple recgnize they are nt talking t a human. He suggests that instead f trying t make chatbts act exactly like humans, we shuld value the uniqueness f human-AI cmmunicatin.
      12. What des the underlined wrd “nuanced” in Paragraph 2 mean?
      A. Quick.B. Simple.C. Detailed.D. Cmmn.
      13. Hw culd the AI’s understanding be imprved?
      A. By aviding infrmal language.B. By rewriting user messages.
      C. By using different training data.D. By adding mre frmal talks.
      14. What des Giansiracusa advise us t d?
      A. Accept unique AI chats.B. Train AI with frmal language.
      C. Talk mre plitely t chatbts.D. Make chatbts mre human-like.
      15. What is the main purpse f the article?
      A. T intrduce a new AI technlgy.B. T shw the limits f AI develpment.
      C. T encurage plite talk with AI chatbts.D. T discuss an issue in AI cmmunicatin.
