MONARCH BUTTERFLY HABITAT
Mnarch butterfly ppulatins have been reducing ver time. This is mainly because their winter habitats in Califrnia and Mexic are being destryed. Pesticide use and extreme weather caused by climate change are als harming them.
By planting native tree species, we can help prtect vital mnarch nesting grunds, restre damaged lands, prtect vital ecsystem services fr nearby cmmunities, and mre. S far, a ttal f 2.67 millin trees have been planted in Mexic fr Mnarchs.
FRUIT TREES CHANGE LIVES
Much f ur wrk in India is fcused n planting fruit trees t fight hunger, imprve lcal ecnmics, and address climate change. Each fruit tree we plant equals at least $10 in fd and nutritin yearly.
Besides ecnmic benefits, planting trees als bsts eclgy and health. India struggles with pr air quality. Trees, which clean the air, trap pllutants, and prvide xygen ver their lifetimes.
FOREST FIRE RESTORATION
Califrnia's frests need active management t imprve their health, reduce the risk f majr wildfires, and prtect this beautiful natural playgrund fr future generatins.
S far, we've planted ver 4.4 millin trees in Califrnia, but there's still mre wrk t d. Wrking with partners like the U.S. Frest Service and private landwners, we're helping wildfire recvery effrts at all levels.

Purnta Dutta, an MBA frm India, tk a break frm her career in 2010, spending time with her newbrn daughter. This life - changing time led her t fund Cuddles Fundatin — a nnprfit rganizatin fcused n prviding fd and nutritin (营养) t pr children battling cancer in gvernment cancer hspitals.
At the hspital, she saw s many children with cancer, and a baby wh was arund the same age as her child. Mved by what she saw, Purnta spke t the scial wrker abut hw she culd extend supprt t these children. While they had enugh financial resurces fr treatment, they needed mney fr nutritin.
The cuple did their best t meet their essential requirements. Hwever, it sn surpassed what they culd affrd, and they started tapping int their netwrks t raise mney. At first, Cuddles Fundatin jined hands with Dr Brijesh Arra, wh was leading the prgram fr nutritin fr children with cancer in India. "Then came Unlimited India, which gt me n bard as an investee (被投资者)," she adds..
At present, Cuddles Fundatin's FdHeals prgramme bridges the nutritin gap in children with cancer in 35 gvernment and charity hspitals in 20 cities acrss India. Over the past year, it prvided nutritin guidance t ver 6,000 patients.
Swara is amng many children supprted by the fundatin. The five - year - ld frm Baramati was diagnsed with cancer. Her father had spent all f his savings n her medical tests and travel. After a year f regular guidance and nutritin supprt, Swara has entered the recvery stage f treatment and is back hme in Baramati.

Frget t bring yur charger? What if yur clthing culd generate electricity frm the heat yur bdy naturally prduces? This futuristic cncept is becming a reality.
Scientists at Chalmers University and Linköping University in Sweden have develped a new yarn (纱线) that can generate electricity frm bdy heat, using a plymer cating (聚合物涂层) applied t rdinary silk yarn. The principle is the thermelectric effect (热电效应), where temperature differences between the human bdy and its surrunding envirnment create electrical energy. As the human bdy prduces cnstant heat, the warmer side f the thermelectric material transfers electrns t the clder side, generating an electrical current.
"The plymers that we use are bendable, lightweight and easy t use in bth liquid and slid frm. They are als harmless," says study first authr Mariavittria Craigher. Unlike previus attempts at creating thermelectric textiles, this breakthrugh slves a lng - standing prblem: the lack f air - stable plymers.
"The new type f plymer has utstanding perfrmance stability in cntact with air while at the same time having a very gd ability t cnduct electricity. By using plymers, we dn't need any rare earth metals, which are cmmn in electrnics," explains Craigher.
The new thermelectric yarn culd pwer sensrs in clthing t mnitr vital signs like heart rate and bdy temperature withut needing battery changes r recharging. Beynd healthcare, it culd enable lw - pwer functins in smart clthing, such as envirnmental sensing and lcatin tracking. As pwer cnversin efficiency imprves, mre pwer - demanding features can be supprted.
While the new plymers mark a majr step frward in thermelectric textiles, it's imprtant t nte that the temperature differences in lab tests are much higher than thse typically experienced in everyday clthing. As a result, real - wrld perfrmance may be lwer. Mrever, the yarn generates nly 0.67 micrwatts at a 70 - degree temperature difference, which is far t little t charge devices like smartphnes. The manufacturing prcess is als time - cnsuming, requiring fur days f manual wrk t create ne piece, making it impractical fr large - scale cmmercial prductin.
28. Hw des the new apprach generate electricity?
A. By recycling the flw f airB. By absrbing the energy f sunlight.
C. By heating the surrunding envirnment.D. By making use f temperature differences.
29. What advantage d the new plymers have ver previus materials?
A. Lwer csts.B. Greater safety.C. Higher stability.D. Less weight.
30. What can we learn abut the new yarn frm paragraph 5?
A. It needs t be charged regularly.
B. It has brad applicatin prspects.
C. It is designed fr medical treatment.
D. It will be launched int the markets sn.
31. What is the last paragraph mainly abut?
A. The limitatins f putting the plymers int practical use.
B. The standard f prducing the new textile.
C. The ptential f the plymers in pwering devices.
D. The fllw - up test plan f scientists.
D
In cntemprary sciety, we find urselves at a curius crssrads regarding slitude (独处). Recent studies reveal a significant increase in slitary living, with mre individuals chsing t dine, travel, and reside alne than at any pint in recrded histry. While mental health experts rightly highlight the dangers f chrnic (慢性的) lneliness, this imprtant discussin ften verlks a crucial distinctin - the difference between invluntary islatin and what psychlgists term “psitive slitude,” a restrative state assciated with enhanced well - being and persnal grwth.
Actually, slitude has varius benefits cnfirmed bth by academic study and persnal experiences. Quality alne time serves as an emtinal reset buttn, ffering space fr self - reflectin and psychlgical recvery. The cmmercial sectr has taken nte, with an emerging market fr slitude - enhancing prducts and spaces. Yet despite these indicatrs f value, cultural prejudices persist, particularly in scieties that equate cnstant cnnectivity with success.
The critical factr determining slitude's impact lies in its quality and intentinality. Passive digital cnsumptin - particularly the endless brwsing thrugh scial media feeds - fails t deliver slitude's psychlgical benefits. Authentic slitude requires deliberate discnnectin: perids dedicated t self - directed activities, uninterrupted reflectin, and emtinal self - adjustment. This explains the paradx (矛盾) where many recgnize slitude's imprtance fr mental health yet struggle t experience its restrative effects.
Yunger generatins face particular challenges in this regard, ften replacing meaningful slitude with virtual interactins. The path frward invlves thughtful reframing - regarding alne time as “self - cnnectin rather than islatin, and understanding slitude as cmplementary (相互补充的) t scial needs rather than ppsitinal”.
In ur hyper - cnnected age, the grwing preference fr slitude may represent nt scial withdrawal, but a natural crrectin t cnstant cnnectivity - an attempt t reclaim the quiet spaces where we recnnect with ur authentic selves. As we navigate this cmplex field, it becmes increasingly clear that the ability t be cmfrtably alne is nt just a persnal preference, but a vital life skill fr maintaining psychlgical balance in an increasingly demanding wrld.
32. What d we knw abut mental health experts in paragraph 1?
A. They believe lneliness enhances well - being.
B. They fail t distinguish different types f slitude.
C. They hld slitary living is n the rise.
D. They regard slitude as invluntary islatin.
33. Which f the fllwing belngs t quality alne time?
A. Perids dedicated t surfing the Internet.
B. Time spent in emtinal restratin.
C. Perids dedicated t seeking prducts.
D. Time spent in cnnectivity with success.
34. Accrding t paragraph 4, what is the key difference between viewing slitude as "self - cnnectin" versus "islatin"?
A. Self - cnnectin suggests a psitive chsen state.
B. Self - cnnectin implies prfund scial interactin
C. Islatin is mre scientific and beneficial t us.
D. Islatin can cexist with scial interactin.
35. Which f the fllwing wuld be the best title fr the article?
A. What is the definitin f slitude?
B. Why shuld we remain alne in the digital age?
C. Why alne time is gd fr yu?
D. Hw shuld we bst the pwer f slitude?

Dn't Let Persnality Types Define Yu
Persnality tests, especially the Myers - Briggs type indicatr (MBTI), are ppular tls that many peple use t better understand themselves and their relatinships with thers. MBTI srts peple int 16 different persnality types based n fur key categries. 36
The MBTI system prvides a simple way t categrize individuals based n their preferences. But peple are cmplex. Our persnalities can change ver time, depending n experiences and grwth. What the MBTI test reveals is just a snapsht f ne's preferences, nt a cmplete definitin f wh yu are. Fr example, if the test labels (贴标签) yu as an "intrvert (内向的人)", yu may feel tempted t avid scial cmmunicatin because yu think it's nt in yur nature t be utging. But yu might find that yur ability t enjy scial events increases ver time. 37 Yu shuld see it as a starting pint fr self - reflectin and grwth.
Similarly, if yu are categrized as a "thinking" type, it might lead yu t believe that yu are always ratinal (理性的), while neglecting yur "feeling" side. 38 Emtinal respnse is als an essential part f human nature, and embracing them can enhance yur decisin - making prcess and relatinships.
39 They might think, fr instance, that an "intrvert" wuld nt be a gd leader. But there are cuntless examples f intrverts succeeding in these types f rles. Many intrverts achieve success thrugh careful listening and thughtful decisin - making. Dn't let the MBTI label stp yu frm pursuing pprtunities that feel right fr yu.
Finally, ne f the mst imprtant lessns we can learn frm the MBTI is that we are nt defined by ne test r label. The test results shuld be seen as a guide, nt a limitatin. By fcusing n ur strengths and embracing the full cmplexity f ur persnalities, we can lead richer and mre fulfilling lives. 40
A. We are all mre than the labels we receive.
B. The key is nt t accept the label as an unchangeable fact.
C. Hwever, it's essential t understand that bth parts are valuable.
D. We must admit emtin's significant rle in persnal develpment.
E. Try t fcus n yur strengths rather than wrry abut yur weaknesses.
F. Additinally, many peple believe their "type" restricts their career r life chices.
G. Althugh these tests can prvide useful insights, they shuldn't define r limit yu.
