The grup started the htline because, despite their numbers, there was n specific infrmatin platfrm t help them find resurces and help.
What callers want mre than anything is t be seen and recgnized, says CAN CEO Marvell Adams. “Every resurce we have, the whle purpse is t give awareness t caregivers: Yu are nt alne,” he says. “We hear ver and ver again— They dn’t always want smebdy t slve it. What they want is smebdy t recgnize them.”
Shedrick jined the bard, aiming t help ther caregivers find supprt. She’s seen hw hard it can be. Her cnsulting cmpany, JenTex, prvides training, prfessinal develpment and cntinuing educatin fr scial wrkers and thse in health and human services.
Shedrick nw manages the binder f medical infrmatin that rganizes everything that’s happened— every dctr, every symptm(症状). It weighs n her, but, she says, she nw knws wh she is, wh t lean n fr supprt, and has a way t cnnect t thers, by talking abut her experience.

In the 10 years since the bk Nudge: Imprving Decisins Abut Health, Wealth, and Happiness was published, the idea f nudging(助推) peple t make better decisins has becme mainstream in everything frm gvernment t public health t persnal habits.
A nudge is a way f skillfully influencing chices withut actually frbidding anything. One f the examples in the bk is the cafeteria that nudged diners int healthy eating habits by placing fruits and ther healthy snacks at eye level, while putting chips and ice cream in harder-t-reach spts. N ne was prevented frm seeking ut their favrite junk fd, but the set up f the fferings encuraged diners t chse apple slices instead.
But even thugh nudges have prven successful in several fields, they’re nt perfect. In fact, nudges dn’t always wrk and can smetimes even backfire.
Here’s why nudges aren’t always the best way t g abut changing yur habits— strng preferences. I’m a crazy reader. I’m at the library as ften as twice a week. Despite this, I carry an average verdue fine balance f clse t $10 at any ne time. Over the years, I’ve tried varius nudges t imprve my n-time return rate. I’ve left bks n the table by the dr, left bks in my car, and I’ve even placed “return library bks” n my wrk t-d list. Nt a single ne f these nudges has wrked. What’s ging n here is that my preexisting preferences are far strnger than my nudges t return the bks.
Strng preferences can als help t explain sme phenmenn f the patients. N matter what nudges the medical prfessin has attempted t use t imprve patient cmpliance, many patients have such a strng preexisting preference t maintain their ld eating and exercise habits that they’ll simply ignre their dctr’s recmmendatins. Even when it cmes t taking medicatin, the preference t nt take it is greater than even sme financial nudges that pay patients t cmply. Thugh nudges can help t imprve habits, they will nt vercme strng preferences.
      28. Which f the fllwing belngs t nudge?
      A. Custmers’ shpping habits.B. The vlume f backgrund music.
C.A salesman’s strng recmmendatin.D. The advertisement played in a shpping center.
      29. What des the authr’s experience illustrate?
      A. Bk lving can be a crazy thing.
      B. Bad habits are always frmed little by little.
      C. Mre imprtance shuld be attached t nudging.
      D. The nudging is nt always as effective as we expect.
      30. What des the underlined wrd “cmpliance” in paragraph 5 prbably mean?
      A. Obedience.B. Living.C. Cnditin.D. Accmmdatin.
      31. What is mainly talked abut in the passage?
      A. A brief intrductin f a bk.B. An idea mentined in a bk.
      C. The authr’s persnal experience.D. The disadvantages f preference.

It might just serve as a way t pass a rainy afternn, but swimming may be ne f humans’ ldest hbbies. The earliest swimming pl dates back t 3000 BCE, in the Indus Valley.

Yu may g t many lengths t avid swallwing pl water, but evidence suggests that sme still ends up in ur bdies. Accrding t a 2017 study cnducted at public swimming pls in Ohi invlved testing the bld f 549 peple, n average, the adults swallwed arund 21 mL per hur, while children swallwed arund 49 mL per hur.
When ne swallws pl water, the chances f this water being an infectin risk differs depending n hw busy the pl is. One study fund that cntracting cryptspridium is mre likely when swimming at peak times. The researchers tested water frm six pls nce a week fr 10 weeks in summer 2017, and detected cryptspridium in 20% f the pl samples, and at least nce in each pl. Tw thirds f these water samples were during the pl’s busiest times, in the schl hlidays.
Accrding t Jackie Knee, the risk f chlramines(氯胺) frming abve the water can be lwered by ensuring that everyne shwers befre entering the pl, which helps t wash ff faecal matter. Shwering can help t lwer the risk f spreading and cntracting infectin. “Other imprtant ways t avid infectins frm swimming pls include aviding swallwing pl water,” Jackie Knee adds.
      32. What challenge were swimming pls facing in the 19th century?
      A. T reduce csts.B. T keep water clean.
      C. T attract custmers.D. T get enugh water.
      33. What did the 2017 study shw?
      A. Ging swimming can be dangerus.
      B. Swallwing pl water is hard t avid.
      C. Peple dn’t knw the harm f pl water.
      D. Adults swallw mre pl water than children.
      34. What mainly decides infectin risk accrding t paragraph 5?
      A. The number f swimmers.B. The size f swimming pls.
      C. The length f swimming hurs.D. The temperature f pl water.
      35. What des Jackie Knee intend t d in the last paragraph?
      A. T give sme analyses.B. T issue sme warnings.
      C. T make sme cmments.D. T ffer sme suggestins.
