“Aiming fr 7000 steps is a realistic gal accrding t ur findings, which lked at health results in a number f areas that hadn’t been studied befre,” said Prfessr Ding. “Hwever, fr thse wh cannt yet achieve 7000 steps a day, even small increases in step cunts, such as increasing frm 2000 t 4000 steps a day, are assciated with gd fitness.”
“We knw daily step cunt is cnnected with living lnger, but we nw als have findings that walking at least 7000 steps a day can greatly imprve eight majr health results, including reducing risk f cardivascular disease and mental (心理的) prblems,” added Prfessr Ding.

“If I culd talk t the animals, just imagine it, chatting t a chimp (黑猩猩) in its language,” sang the actr Rex Harrisn in the 1967 mvie Dctr Dlittle. “Imagine talking t a tiger, chatting t a lin. What a great achievement that wuld be!” Talking t animals may have seemed like a dream in the 1960s, but it may sn becme pssible thanks t AI (人工智能).
The sunds that animals make t cmmunicate with each ther have rules that ther members f their species understand, but these rules are hard fr humans t identify. Hwever, AI is very gd at finding rules if it is given enugh data. And because AI can srt thrugh millins f sunds t find such rules, many scientists believe AI may sn help us understand what animals are saying.
Scientists have a prject called CETI. They use AI t study the sunds f sperm whale (抹香鲸). They already knw that these whales use clicks t identify each ther, and that grups f whales even have their wn special sunds. The CETI researchers have trained a machine language prgram n a database f whale sunds, and they are nw trying t match the sunds the AI has identified with whale behavir. They believe they will be able t translate the language f sperm whales as sn as 2026.
Sme peple believe that understanding the language f animals will change hw we see ur relatinship with the natural wrld, and may encurage greater prtectin effrts. But in the meantime, it seems sme animals might already want t talk t us! Sme whales have been recrded blwing large bubble (气泡) rings in water during meeting with humans. And a study f these meetings suggests that the whales may be trying t use the bubbles t cmmunicate with us!
      12. Hw des the authr intrduce the tpic in paragraph 1?
      A. By telling a histric stry.B. By prviding research results.
      C. By explaining animal languages.D. By using a mvie sng.
      13. Why is AI helpful fr peple t understand animal sunds?
      A. It can create new animal languages.B. It can find rules frm many sunds.
      C. It can directly translate animal languages.D. It can cpy the sunds made by animals.
      14. What can we learn frm the last paragraph?
      A. Whales mainly use bubbles t cmmunicate.
      B. Peple can surely live in harmny with animals.
      C. Understanding animal languages may prtect nature.
      D. Mre prjects will be carried ut t study animal sunds.
      15. What can be the best title fr the text?
      A. AI May Sn Help Us Talk t Animals
      B. Hw Whales Cmmunicate with Humans
      C. Hw We Prtect Animals Thrugh Technlgy
      D. CETI Has Uncvered the Mystery f Whale Sunds
