The Glbally Imprtant Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) represent centuries f harmny between peple and nature, preserving bidiversity and ensuring fd security. These systems shw hw traditinal knwledge—such as sil cnservatin and water management—can sustain ecsystems and strengthen the ability t recver frm climate change. By cmbining ancient wisdm with mdern science, GIAHS demnstrates that sustainable agriculture relies n bth innvatin and traditin.
China's experience prvides valuable lessns. With 25 chsen GIAHS sites, it has built a natinal system integrating agricultural heritage int rural develpment. Its “dynamic cnservatin” mdel prmtes adaptatin rather than preservatin alne, linking heritage prtectin with ec-turism, educatin, and value-added industries. Thrugh cperatin amng universities, research institutes, and lcal cmmunities, China ensures traditinal practices change t meet mdern needs while supprting livelihds.
Yung peple play a crucial rle in ensuring the cntinuatin f agricultural heritage systems. Thrugh participatin in initiatives such as the “Yuth Actin n Green Agri-Heritage” in Shanghai, they are encuraged t reflect n green agricultural heritage and gain a deeper understanding f its significance. By prtecting and passing n time-hnred knwledge and practices t future generatins, while als learning t adapt GIAHS t new realities and technlgies, yuth serve as a bridge between traditin and innvatin.
The Digital Village Initiative f the Fd and Agriculture Organizatin f the United Natins (FAO) further shws this cmbinatin, using mbile apps, e-cmmerce, and GIS mapping t strengthen lcal ecnmies and prduct traceability (可追溯性) . When technlgy integrates with traditinal methds, it keeps bth cultural identity and envirnmental balance, ensuring that agricultural heritage remains active and meaningful in the mdern era.
Lking frward, FAO aims t further strengthen GIAHS as mdels f resilience (适应力) in the face f climate change. By prmting innvatin and supprting yuth engagement, FAO seeks t ensure that these living systems cntinue t bridge the past and the future. Thrugh such effrts, agricultural heritage is nt preserved as a relic (遗迹) f histry, but develped as a guiding path tward a mre sustainable and inclusive wrld.

      A. It limits agricultural develpment. B. It values time- tested farming insight.
      C. It imprves respnse t water shrtage. D. It replaces traditin with mdern science.
      25. Hw has China cntributed t agricultural heritage cnservatin?
      A. By freezing traditinal systems in time. B. By making related cuntryside prgrams.
      C. By fcusing mainly n turism prmtin. D. By separating culture frm ecnmic grwth.
      26. What is the purpse f invlving yuth in GIAHS prjects?

Lindsey Martin's electricity bill hit $314 in July and rse t $372 in August— mre than duble what she paid a few years ag. Many Americans have reprted similar rises as residential electricity csts climb. The U. S. Energy Infrmatin Administratin (EIA) says prices have risen13% since 2022, with sme regins, including the Pacific and New England, seeing even greater increases.
Experts pint t multiple causes. Maintaining and upgrading the pwer grid (电网) has becme mre expensive, especially as extreme weather becmes mre cmmn. But a new factr is driving the trend—artificial intelligence. The AI grwth has sharply increased demand fr electricity as cmpanies pur billins int data centers. OpenAI and Bradcm recently annunced plans t design 10 gigawatts f AI chips and systems, enugh t pwer a large city.
Accrding t the U. S. Department f Energy, data centers culd cnsume 6. 7% t 12% f U. S. electricity by 2028, up frm 4. 4% in 2023. Blmberg fund that areas near data centers have seen pwer csts rise up t 267% in five years. Analysts warn that the pwer grid cannt keep up with this rise. The expansin f data facilities has already placed pressure n lcal electricity systems, especially in regins with limited capacity.
AI tls are als grwing increasingly sphisticated, develping beynd text- based questins t handle cmplex tasks like generating realistic vides r cding websites frm the start. This cmplexity requires huge cmputing pwer and far greater electricity use. As AI mdels cntinue t learn faster and prcess larger data, their energy demand is expected t grw, frcing cmpanies t expand netwrks and seek cleaner surces t meet needs.
General pwer rates depend n the cst f generating, sending, and delivering energy. Sme states are adjusting pricing mdels. Oregn, fr instance, nw requires data centers t pay fr the pressure they place n the grid s that hmewners aren't left cvering thse csts. Withut such changes, experts warn, cnsumers will cntinue t feel the financial shck f the AI revlutin.
      28. What des Martin's stry mainly reflect?
      A. Rising hme energy stress. B. Reduced reginal price gaps.
      C. Wider access t hme pwer. D. Imprved electricity efficiency.

      A. Advanced. B. Primitive. C. Awkward. D. Uncertain.
      31. What is the authr's attitude tward Oregn's actin?
      A. Dubtful. B. Uncncerned. C. Supprtive. D. Disapprving.
      D
While mre stadiums and gyms have been built in recent years, sprts studies shw a sharp drp in utdr play, especially amng schl-age children. Many parents say it's t dangerus t let kids play in pen fields, s they sign them up fr indr training r screen-based exercise instead. As a result, fewer children experience the jy f running freely utside r playing ball with neighbrs after schl.
Sprts writer Emily Gardner finds this wrrying. In her bk Free t Mve: Hw Cities Frget t Play, she argues that children have lst their mst natural place t mve— the lcal playgrund and field. She says that mdern cities ften measure success by traffic speed and shpping centers, nt by hw much space peple have t mve and cnnect. Gardner calls fr cities t rethink hw public areas are used and t bring play and exercise back int daily life.
This change began decades ag when pen spaces were replaced by parking lts and shpping centers. Sme parents and caches tried t prtect playgrunds frm being turned int car parks. In ne famus case in Lndn, a cmmunity grup saved their ftball pitch (球场) by rganizing weekly “play-ins”, where hundreds f children filled the field t shw hw much it mattered. Similar prtests were seen in Japan and Canada in the 1980s.
Yet, despite thse effrts, urban design still favrs cars ver kids. In many cuntries, playgrunds are declining while private fitness centers grw. Families nw drive lng distances t reach safe sprts areas, and the lack f lcal play reduces mvement. Health experts warn that less utdr activity nt nly harms children's physical fitness but als weakens their scial and emtinal well-being.
We spend billins n rads and cars but little n pen fields that build bth health and happiness. As Gardner puts it, “A city that frgets t play frgets t live.” It's time t make playgrunds as imprtant as parking lts and let children rediscver the pwer f mvement.
      32. What phenmenn des the authr pint ut in paragraph 1?
      A. Limited screen time becmes rarer. B. Playtime with neighbrs still matters.
      C. Parental wrries abut security cntinue. D. Outdr activity amng children declines.
      33. What was Emily Gardner trying t d in her bk?
      A. Prmte city traffic develpment. B. Build mre private fitness centers.
      C. Call fr a return f lcal play spaces. D. Encurage shpping-related leisure.
      34. What can be inferred abut the prtest in Lndn?
      A. It achieved its intended bjective. B. It caused mre car parks t appear.
      C. It discuraged schl invlvement. D. It failed t prtect any playgrund.
      35. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. When Did Children Stp Learning? B. Where Have the Playgrunds Gne?
      C. Hw Did Sprts Becme Dangerus? D. Why D Parents Chse Screens?

39 The POINTER study asked participants t play memry and lgic games t stimulate their brains. Yu dn't have t buy expensive prgrams— many free puzzles and apps can help imprve memry and cncentratin. The key is t keep learning and challenging yurself regularly.
Finally, scial interactin has been prven t bst mental strength. Talking with friends, jining interest grups, r vlunteering can all help reduce stress and prevent lneliness. 40 In the POINTER study, participants were encuraged t reach ut t thers, cmmunicate regularly, and share prgress. Building such cnnectins keeps peple mtivated and makes the jurney tward brain health mre enjyable.
      A. Sme ther strategies can bst yur bdy strength.
      B. Besides physical health, mental activity matters t.
      C. Hwever, experts say that decline is nt unavidable.

Last mnth, ur cmmunity launched a vlunteer prgram t build and manage a shared garden. Psters were displayed at the gate, calling fr residents t jin hands in planting flwers, grwing vegetables, and maintaining the envirnment. The idea f turning an abandned piece f land int a green garden immediately appealed t me. I phned my tw clse friends, Mike and Lily, wh lived in the same neighbrhd, and invited them t participate. T my delight, bth agreed, excited t cntribute t smething meaningful fr ur cmmunity.
On the first Saturday mrning, the three f us arrived at the empty land chsen fr the garden. Several cmmunity wrkers were already there, preparing the sil and arranging tls. We were sn divided int grups, each respnsible fr different tasks. Mike, wh had a gift fr design, vlunteered t plan the layut f the flwer beds. Lily and I began planting seeds, watering, and labeling each plant carefully. The sun was very ht, and sweat ran dwn ur faces, yet the laughter arund us made every minute wrthwhile. Sme neighbrs passing by ffered bttles f water and even jined us, saying hw wnderful it was t see yung peple caring fr the neighbrhd. By the end f the day, the nce-bare grund was cvered with rws f green shts, silently prmising a bright future.
As weeks went by, the garden began t take shape. The air was filled with the smell f fresh earth and blming (盛开的) flwers. Elderly neighbrs stpped by t watch, children came t water the plants after schl, and families enjyed evening walks alng the paths we had created. Hwever, as summer apprached, the enthusiasm started t grw weaker. Sme vlunteers gt busy, and weeds began t grw quickly. Withut regular care, several plants dried up in the heat. 21. B【解析】理解具体信息。根据文中 Jenny McCann的建议 “If yu still have Hallween utfits, use them again.”
Catherine Shard 的部分写道 “Pipe cleaners can be used t make fun hair, animal tails, r masks… The gal is nt perfectin but creativity and fun.”

根据首段 “Lindsey Martin's electricity bill hit $314 in July and rse t$372 in August… Many Americans have reprted similar rises” 可知,Martin的经历反映出家庭用电负担上升的社会现象。题干中的 mainly reflect 指这一故事所揭示的普遍问题。故选A项。
