A few years ag, we bught a Leg Taj Mahal (泰姬陵) fr my dad’s birthday, hping t cmbine his lve fr architecture with family time.
Each evening, my dad and I gathered arund the large dining table t build the mdel. We faced thusands f tiny white pieces, each packaged with precisin in numbered plastic bags, accmpanied by a thick instructin bk. The evenings passed quickly, and the building rse befre ur eyes. We culd see ur effrts prducing gd results, and as we turned t the bring task f rdering the clred bricks n the building’s flr, ur cnversatin t tk a turn.
We were amazed by hw cmplex the mdel was and its instructin bk. We realized the bk itself was a wrk f art, beautiful, but als surprisingly detailed and clear. It prvided us with the cmfrt f certainty. We knew if we fllwed all the instructins, we wuld end up with a mdel that lked exactly like the picture n the bx. If we made a mistake, all we had t d was t repeat ur steps and start again.
Life, hwever, des nt fit tgether s neatly and rarely prvides us with such clear instructins. We talked ver ur respective lives, decisins made, and actins and chices never taken. Dad reflected n a life well lived, and I, in my mid-thirties, n the uncertain path that lay ahead.
Here, we were the expert architects ding the assembling (组装), but ut in the wrld, we were the nes being assembled. We think we’re in cntrl, but ur chices are shaped by frces beynd ur cntrl. In the face f uncertainty, we have t prceed, trusting bth in the prcess and the end result.
Smetimes, n the days I return hme, I g t the spare rm t lk at the cmpleted Leg mdel, which brings frth a sense f happiness and cmfrt. It reminds me that life is built slwly, with mistakes, an element f uncertainty and n instructin bk. It shws that cnsideratin, warmth and faith will result in a life well lived. Life itself is nt abut what we materially create r leave behind, but rather hw we lived it.
      24. Which can best describe the authr’s experience f building the Leg mdel?

Mre than 1,000 metres belw the surface f the ceans, darkness dminates. Marine creatures rely n sund fr navigatin, cmmunicatin, and searching fr fd. Hwever, this way f life has cme under threat frm shipping, cntributing t a rise in underwater vlume f apprximately 3.3 decibels(分贝) per decade. The trend shws little sign f levelling ff.
With rughly 90% f trade relying n shipping, quieting the cean thrugh reductins in shipping itself is untenable. While efficiency imprvements f shipping may cut nise, experts say mre is needed. That is why technlgies like mdified prpellers(螺旋桨) and nise-reducing materials are being develped t help humans and marine life cexist.
Much f the underwater nise a ship prduces cmes frm its prpeller. Spinning blades (桨叶) create lw pressure, causing the water t bil and prduce bubbles, a prcess knwn as cavitatin(空化现象).When thse bubbles cllapse, a lw-frequency nise is prduced, disrupting the mvements f marine lives.
One slutin, being develped by researchers at the University f British Clumbia, integrates flexible plymers(聚合物) int the metal prpeller blades, allwing their tips t bend and twist. This mvement prevents bubbles frm frming and thereby reduces the nise the blades prduce. Based n simulatins, the design culd reduce cavitatin nise by 20 decibels. Dr Jaiman says researchers intend t start testing a mdel next year.
Cavitatin can als be reduced by increasing the number f bubbles, rather than reducing them. Researchers at MARIN, a Dutch research institute, have blwn bubbles nt a prpeller’s blades, which can dampen the resulting nise. Mdel-scale tests f this system shwed a 12-decibel decrease in lw-frequency nise. But shipping nise des nt cme nly frm the prpeller, with rughly 20% cming frm engines and generatrs. T reduce this, MARIN researchers have experimented with a bubble screen generated frm tubes psitined in belts arund the utside f the ship. These bubbles prevent nise frm spreading.
28.Which best explains the underlined wrd “untenable” in paragraph 2?
      A. Impractical.B. Unavailable.C. Unstable.D. Immeasurable.
29.What is the main surce f underwater nise frm ships?
      A. The spinning blades.B. The prcess f cavitatin.
      C. The engines and generatrs.D. The bubbles generated by ships
      30. What slutin is being develped at MARIN?
      A. Bsting ship efficiency.B. Creating flexible blade tips.
      C. Generating mre bubbles n blades.D. Using quieter engines and generatrs.
      31.What’s the passage mainly abut?
      A. Strategies t prevent ships frm making nise.
      B. Innvatins t minimize underwater ship nise.
      C. Adapted prpeller designs t restre undersea quiet.
      D. Negative impacts f underwater nise n marine life.

The idea that night wls wh dn’t g t bed until the early hurs struggle t get anything dne during the day may have t be revised. It turns ut that staying up late culd be gd fr ur brain pwer as research suggests that peple wh identify as night wls culd be sharper than thse wh g t bed early.
Researchers led by academics at Imperial Cllege Lndn studied data frm the UK Bibank study n mre than 26,000 peple wh had cmpleted intelligence, reasning, reactin time and memry tests. They then examined hw participants’ sleep duratin, quality, and chrntype affected brain perfrmance. They fund that thse wh stay up late and thse classed as “intermediate” had “superir cgnitive functin”, while mrning larks had the lwest scres. Ging t bed late is strngly assciated with creative types. Artists, authrs and musicians knwn t be night wls include James Jyce and Lady Gaga.
But while pliticians like Barack Obama famusly seemed t thrive n little sleep, the study fund that sleep duratin is imprtant fr brain functin, with thse getting between seven and nine hurs f shut-eye each night perfrming best in cgnitive tests. Prf Daqing Ma, the c-leader f the study, added, “We fund that sleep duratin has a direct effect n brain functin, and we believe that actively managing sleep patterns is really imprtant fr bsting and safeguarding the way ur brains wrk. We’d ideally like t see plicy interventins t help sleep patterns imprve in the general ppulatin.”
Sme experts, hwever, urged cautin in interpreting the findings. Jessica Chelekis, a sleep expert at Brunel University Lndn, said there were “imprtant limitatins” t the study as the research did nt accunt fr educatin attainment, r include the time f day the cgnitive tests were cnducted in the results. The main value f the study was challenging steretypes arund sleep, she added.
32.What can be learned abut the new research?
      A. It advcates a new trend f sleep patterns.B. It reveals mst night wls have sharp brains.
      C. It suggests staying up enhances brain pwer.D. It challenges cmmn belief abut night wls.
      33. Why are James Jyce and Lady Gaga mentined in paragraph 2?
      A. T prvide examples f intermediate peple.
      B. T suggest mst successful artists are night wls.
      C. T prve artists have superir cgnitive functin.
      D. T shw the link between late hurs and creativity.
      34. Which statement will Prf Daqing Ma prbably agree with?
      A. All sleep lengths equally imprve brain functin.
      B. Parents shuldn’t intervene children’s sleep pattern.
      C. Schls shuld start later t fit teens’ bdy clcks.
      D. Sleep duratin is mre imprtant than sleep quality.
      35. What is the authr’s attitude twards the new study?
      A. Objective.B. SkepticalC. AppreciativeD. Critical

      Dear Oliver,
Hw have yu been? I’m excited t share the study tur “Explring New Rural China” rganized by ur schl last week.
The village we visited was a shining example f rural revitalizatin. What left the deepest impressin n me was the high-tech farm, where advanced technlgies such as drip irrigatin and drnes were being utilized. Additinally, lcal artisans shwcased their centuries-ld bamb weaving techniques, creating exquisite artwrks that are sld glbally thrugh e-cmmerce platfrms.
This eye-pening experience reshaped my understanding f rural China. I realized that technlgical advancements are nt nly breathing new life int villages but als maintaining cultural cntinuity. I’m genuinely prud f the rural develpment in ur cuntry.
Hpe yu can visit China’s cuntryside smeday t experience its unique charm firsthand!
      Yurs,
      Li Hua

      Paragraph 1:
The next mrning, Clara upladed a new vide. This time, her camera swept acrss the leather album’s sketches f Timmy’s curved spn and lingered n a yellwed newspaper clipping featuring his icnic stairs. As Grandfather narrated their stry, she zmed in n his hands - wrinkled yet steady - shaping a piece f wd int art. The vide ended with his vice, “Hands remember stries machines frget.” By nn, cmments explded, “Hands f a legend!” “Need this magic in my hme!” Shares f the vide skyrcketed. Amid the fld f praise, Clara sptted a message, “I’m cming t see yu sn, Master — back t where the magic began!” Her eyes widened at Timmy’s prfile picture which just matched the same grin frm that faded pht.
      Paragraph 2:
A week later, Timmy, nw a famus furniture designer, walked in the wrkshp. He embraced Grandfather, tears glistening. “Yur spn taught me curves have suls,” he said, placing the curved spn n the desk. Tgether, they designed a signature chair – Timmy sketching mdern lines n his tablet while Grandfather penciling his classic curves. Clara captured the mment: their fur hands shaping a maple chair leg tgether, mirrring the ne Grandfather had glued a week befre. When Timmy psted the vide, rders pured in: new chairs with curved legs, and even wden benches fr the twn park. Wd shavings danced in the sunlight as the wrkshp came back t life, the rder bk’s empty February page nw filled with March’s grwing demands.
