new brewmaster: ChatGPT, an artificial-intelligence(AI) chatbt. This led t the creatin f “Beck’s Autnmus”,
a ttally machine-made beer. One Daily Mail reprter cnsidered it better than the brewery’s standard lager.
Beer and AI may seem an unlikely pairing, but Beck’s is far frm the nly brand using AI fr beers. Atwater
Brewery, an American firm, intrduced an AI-designed India pale ale(IPA) in 2023. In March Ced Brewery in
Japan used AI t analyse the preferences f peple in their 20s t 50s, and then develped fur craft beers, ne fr
each age range. Accrding t brewers, mst custmers have respnded psitively.
Smene says, “It gives us access t new recipes that we didn’t think abut befre.“ Machine-learning tls

prduct appeals t picky custmers.
Beau Warren, the bss f the Species X Beer Prject brewery, knws this firsthand. Frm 2022 t 2024, he

wn strng apprval frm custmers. It’s a pity that the AI beers at Species X are n mre: the brewery clsed
dwn last autumn wing t financial difficulties.

researchers analysed the chemical makeup f 250 Belgian beers. They then trained machine-learning algrithms
(计算程序) t mdel the effects f adding r remving different arma cmpunds (香气化合物) n the taste.
“The mdels we develp help us understand the cmplex relatinship between the chemistry f a beer, its taste, and
hw cnsumers will like it,” says Kevin Verstrepen, wh led the research team.
Of curse, it will take mre than a chatbt t replace a human brewer. Ingredients must be pured, brew
kettles must be tended and the beers must be tasted-whether they were made ttally by human hands, r brewed, at
least in part, by rbts. “AI will becme mre and mre part f the brewing prcess, but the brewing itself, the craft,
is still the emphasis,” says a prfessinal. “It will be difficult t have machines make ur beers.”
32. What is the functin f the first paragraph?
A. T talk abut Beck’s Autnmus beer’s sales. B. T explain all f Beck’s 150th anniversary activities.
C. T bring up the tpic f AI used in beer brewing. D. T prve ChatGPT is better than human brewmasters.
33. Accrding t the passage, what is the benefit f AI applicatin in beer brewing?
A. It can greatly reduce labr csts.
B. It can simplify the prductin prcess.
C. It can prduce ingredients brewers have never seen.
第 8页/共 14页
D. It can develp recipes brewers might nt have thught f.
34. What des the underlined wrd “intrigued” in paragraph 5 prbably mean?
A. Adrable. B. Curius. C. Delighted. D. Relieved.
35. Which f the fllwing best summarizes the passage?
A. Different beer brands arund the wrld are cmpeting t use AI.
B. Scientists have uncvered the mystery f beer’s taste thrugh AI.
C. Many famus beer brands nw use AI t plish their beer recipes.
D. AI is applied in beer brewing but can’t replace human craftsmanship.

Having seen all this, Amellia’s father came, sitting beside her, “Yu can, if yu think yu can,” he said. His
vice carried the firm message it always did when repeating his life’s mantra (口头禅).
“That’s easy fr yu t say,” Amellia graned (嘟囔), “Math makes n sense t me.”
Her father sighed, remving his glasses. “When I was thirteen, I was asked t stand befre the class t read
alud. I culdn’t. The wrds swam n the page. Dyslexia (阅读困难症) . N ne understd it then. But my father
tld me thse same wrds — ‘Yu can, if yu think yu can’ and eventually, I prved him right.”

dyslexia; it was math!
Mnths passed with little prgress. Treating her effrts as useless, Amellia even gave up her struggle.
Each f Mr. Thmpsn’s math classes felt like appraching a battlefield unarmed. Unsurprisingly she gt

That evening, Dad seated Amellia at the kitchen table and placed a cup f tea befre her. “I’m pr at math,”
she sighed t the steaming liquid. “Yu are pr at math,” he agreed, surprising her. “But ne day yu’ll say yu
