Under the bright sun, 19-year-ld Wu Yuqing dragged her suitcase acrss the campus f King Fahd University f Petrleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia — her new hme fr the next fur years. Nearly 24 hurs later, after taking a train t Beijing and a plane t Dammam in eastern Saudi Arabia, she started her verseas study experience at the university.

When she stepped ff the plane in mid-August, the heavy, wet air frm the nearby cast surrunded her. Adapting t the heat wuld be the first challenge.
Over time, she managed t adapt t living cnditins and the study. “At first, it was hard t manage everything by myself — paying fees, registering fr curses and getting an ID and a SIM card,” she recalled. “The curses are all in English, s it was challenging, but I adapted.”
Wu praised the university’s teaching style. “Curses encurage participatin and expressing cmments, nt just grades. Teachers cme frm all ver the wrld and ften share their experiences,” she said. Campus life is vibrant, with Chinese students sharing their culture thrugh clubs and activities like calligraphy and riddle games.
“I had never thught abut studying verseas fr my undergraduate degree,” Wu said. “I knew very little abut it.” She previusly attended Shucheng High Schl in Shanxi. “When I learned abut studying in the Middle East, it felt like a fresh start. The research included nearly 34,000 patients with a histry f nn-melanma skin cancers, finding that thse wh tk nictinamide had a lwer risk f develping the nn-melanma skin cancers again. The greatest benefit was seen in thse wh started taking the nictinamide sn after their first skin cancer diagnsis (诊断). Fr this grup, participants wh tk 500 mg twice daily fr at least ne mnth had a 54% lwer risk f develping a new skin cancer cmpared t thse wh did nt take it. Acrss all participants, the average was reduced by 14%.
This finding has influenced medical practice. Dr. Sarah Arrn, a skin cancer expert, cmmented that the results were helpful. Befre, she was uncertain abut when t recmmend the nictinamide. But nw she plans t recmmend it t patients after their first skin cancer diagnsis. She added that the nictinamide is widely available, has minimal side effects, and is different frm niacin, anther Vitamin B3 frm withut the same functins.
