Once the phermne trail is fund, they fllw it with ne antenna n either side f the path, ensuring they keep n track. This allws ther ants t fllw the phermnes. The result f these phermne paths is lng cnvys f ants, marching ne behind each ther t cllect fd.
The queen ant uses phermnes t signal. As the queen ages, she gives ff phermnes that tell the ant clny that she is dying. They begin feeding and preparing a pupa (蛹), t be the new queen. When ants greet each ther with their antennae, they can tell if they are friends r feed what functin each ant fulfills in the nest.
Scientists knw that this is pssible, but they are still trying t identify which phermnes share this infrmatin. Ants als give ff phermnes that identify the nest they belng t, their scial status, and their maturity.
