      Hanukkah is celebrated n the 25th day f the Jewish mnth, which is usually smetime in December. On Hanukkah, like mst Jewish families, we light sme candles and say a prayer (祈祷) each night. We als say a special prayer n the first night. After that, it is a traditin fr my sister and me t d “ht and cld” fr ur hidden Hanukkah gifts. When we walk twards the gift, ur parents say “ht” and when we walk farther away, they say “cld”. We each receive ne present every night f Hanukkah. Anther part I like abut this hliday is seeing family members wh we d nt see ften. My aunt usually stays fr a few days, and we smetimes visit ther relatives.
      Diwali is celebrated n the 13th day f the dark frtnight f the mnth f Ashwin (Octber/ Nvember). T celebrate Diwali, my family des prayers, in hnur f the gddess Lakshmi. Since she is the gddess f wealth and prsperity (繁荣), the prayers include washing silver cins in milk and water. In India, peple decrate their huses with lamps, similar t the way yu might light up yur huse fr Christmas. My family just place a few candles utside. We als set ff firecrackers, which is my favrite part. We ften d this activity with friends t add t the excitement.
