This unit, centered arund the theme f "inventins", falls within the "Peple and Sciety" theme categry, specifically related t the "Science and Technlgy" theme grup. 教学过程
1. Lead - in (5 minutes)
Greet the class and start a shrt cnversatin, such as asking students what they used in the mrning that they think is a great inventin. Fr example, "Gd mrning, class! Befre we start tday's lessn, I want t ask yu a questin. What is the first thing yu used this mrning that yu cnsider a great inventin? Maybe it's yur mbile phne, yur tthbrush, r the light in yur rm. Share yur thughts with yur partner fr ne minute."
After ne minute, invite several students t share their answers with the class. This can quickly engage students and aruse their interest in the tpic f inventins.
2. Pre - task (10 minutes)
Gruping: Divide the class int grups f 4 - 5 students. Explain t them that they will be wrking tgether thrughut the class t create a display bard abut an inventin. "Nw, I will divide yu int grups. Each grup will be respnsible fr making a display bard abut an amazing inventin. Wrk tgether, cmmunicate well, and make yur display bard utstanding."
Intrductin t the task: Present the task requirements t the students. "In yur grups, yu need t search fr infrmatin abut great inventins. These can be inventins frm histry, like the wheel r the printing press, r mdern - day inventins, such as smartphnes r 3D printers. Then, yu shuld talk abut their inventrs and the imprtance f these inventins. After that, take a grup vte t decide n ne inventin fr yur display bard."
Outlining the display bard: Shw the students the utline fr rganizing their ideas n the display bard, including sectins like "Inventin name", "Prblem", "Slutin", "Abut the inventr", "Materials", and "Hw it wrks". Explain each sectin briefly. "Lk at this utline. Fr the 'Prblem' sectin, yu need t describe the situatin befre the inventin. Fr example, 'Befre the light bulb, peple relied n candles and il lamps, which were dim, dangerus, and inefficient.' The 'Slutin' sectin is abut hw the inventin slved the prblem. 'Thmas Edisn fund the answer by creating a lng - lasting electric light bulb.' And s n fr the ther sectins. Yu can use the language tips in the utline r find useful expressins frm this unit."
3. While - task (20 minutes)
Research and discussin: Let the grups start researching infrmatin abut inventins. They can use textbks, the Internet, r ther reference materials. Walk arund the classrm t mnitr the grups, ffer help when needed, and encurage students t cmmunicate in English. "Nw, start yur research. If yu have any questins, dn't hesitate t ask me. Remember t discuss with yur grup members in English."
Organizing ideas and creating the display bard: After the research, guide the grups t rganize the infrmatin they have cllected accrding t the utline. Prvide them with materials such as large sheets f paper, clred pens, and scissrs t create the display bard. "Nw that yu have the infrmatin, start rganizing it n yur display bard. Make it visually appealing and easy t understand. Use the language we learned t write dwn the key pints in each sectin."
Practicing the presentatin: Once the display bards are almst dne, ask each grup t practice presenting their display bard within the grup. Each member shuld have a part t present. "Practice presenting yur display bard t yur grup members. Everyne shuld have a chance t speak. Make sure yu are familiar with the cntent and can explain it clearly."
4. Pst - task (10 minutes)
Grup presentatins: Invite each grup t cme t the frnt f the class and present their display bard. While a grup is presenting, the ther grups shuld listen carefully and take ntes. "Nw, it's time fr each grup t shw yur amazing display bards. One grup at a time, cme t the frnt and present. The rest f the class, listen carefully and think abut what yu can learn frm their presentatin."
Vting: After all the grups have presented, cnduct a vting sessin. Each grup vtes fr the best three display bards and the best three presentatins. Explain the vting criteria, such as cntent, rganizatin, creativity, and ral presentatin skills. "Nw, we will vte fr the best display bards and presentatins. Cnsider the cntent - is it accurate and detailed? The rganizatin - is the infrmatin well - structured? Creativity - is the display bard unique and eye - catching? And the ral presentatin skills - are the presenters clear and cnfident? Write dwn the numbers f the grups yu vte fr."
Feedback and summary: Summarize the class, highlighting the gd pints f each grup's wrk and als prviding sme suggestins fr imprvement. "Tday, all f yu did a great jb. Each grup had its wn unique inventin and presentatin. Sme grups had very detailed cntent, while thers were very creative in their display bard design. Hwever, sme grups culd imprve their ral presentatin skills by speaking mre ludly and clearly. I hpe yu all learned a lt abut inventins and hw t present ideas in English tday."
教学反思
Psitive aspects:
The grup - wrk activity effectively engaged students, and mst students actively participated in the research, discussin, and creatin f the display bard. This nt nly imprved their English language skills but als enhanced their teamwrk and cmmunicatin abilities.
The lead - in activity was successful in arusing students' interest in the tpic, making it easier fr them t get int the subsequent tasks.
The step - by - step guidance during the pre - task and while - task stages helped students understand the requirements clearly and carry ut the tasks smthly.
Areas fr imprvement:
Sme students still had difficulty in using English t express cmplex ideas, especially when describing the wrking principles f inventins. In future classes, mre language input and practice in this aspect are needed.
During the grup wrk, there were a few grups where sme members dminated the discussin, while thers participated less. In the future, mre attentin shuld be paid t ensuring equal participatin f all grup members, perhaps by assigning specific rles t each member in advance.
The time fr the vting and feedback sessin was a bit tight. In the next class, mre time shuld be allcated t this part t allw fr mre in - depth discussin and reflectin.教学目标
Students will be able t master the key vcabulary, phrases, and sentence patterns related t inventins, such as "inventin", "inventr", "cme up with", "wrk n", "Peple wanted...", "The answer was...".
