In the digital age, reading habits have changed greatly. Many peple skim (略读) texts t get the main ideas quickly, while thers read every wrd carefully. A recent study shws that Americans read fewer bks than they did 30 years ag, spending nly 26 minutes a day reading cmpared t three hurs n the Internet r watching TV. This change has led t mre skimming rather than deep, clse reading.

S it’s mre useful t understand that bth skimming and clse reading are imprtant methds, especially in the digital age, rather than viewing them as cmpletely different.
