The ban n snacking while travelling has attracted attentin. There have been cmplaints n scial media that it wuld make things harder fr thse with busy lives wh need t eat and drink while travelling t wrk.
Nw n ne can clearly tell the link between verweight and a habit f eating while travelling, and Davies desn't prvide much explanatin, either. Her idea seems t have cme ut f the blue.
It is fair t say that mst peple eating while n public transprt are mre likely t be devuring a chclate bar r a packet f crisps. As Davies pints ut, sweet and salty snacks are thught t lead t verweight. Other studies have als shwn that children respnd t unhealthy fd being advertised n televisin by eating mre f it, and fail t eat less at fllwing meals, which may lead t weight gain. Perhaps the aim f the ban is simply t reduce the pprtunities we have fr taking in the calries, r maybe it is t stp children seeing the adults arund them enjying these fds.

Students perfrm less well in final exams if smartphnes are allwed in class, fr nn-academic (非学业的) purpses in lectures, a new study in Educatinal Psychlgy finds. Students wh dn’t use smartphnes themselves but attend lectures where their use is acceptable als d wrse, suggesting that smartphne use damages the grup learning envirnment.

The study fund that having a smartphne didn’t lwer students’ scres in cmprehensin tests within lectures, but it did lwer scres in the final exam by at least 5%, r half a grade. This finding shws fr the first time that the main effect f divided attentin in the classrm is n the length f time in keeping memry, with fewer things f a study task later remembered. In additin, when the use f smartphnes was allwed in class, perfrmance was als prer fr students wh did nt use them as well as fr thse wh did.
The study’s lead authr, Prfessr Arnld Glass, added: “These findings shuld alarm students and teachers that dividing attentin is having a nt bvius but harmful effect that is damaging their exam perfrmance and final grade. T help manage the use f smartphnes in the classrm, teachers shuld explain t students the alarming effect—nt nly fr themselves, but fr the whle class.”
This is the first-ever study in an actual classrm shwing a relatinship between lsing attentin frm smartphnes and exam perfrmance. Hwever, mre researches are required t see hw students are affected by using smartphnes after schl.
