Vivien Thmas was brn in 1910. He wanted t g t medical schl - nly a dream fr a 19-year-ld African American grwing up in the Suth. Thmas became a carpenter ( 木匠) t earn mney during the Great Depressin but that culd nt replace his dream f becming a dctr. Language lets us share ur feelings, make cnnectins, and even hand dwn family traditins like recipes and sngs frm generatin t generatin. But what abut family members wh dn’t speak the same language?
A “mther language” is defined as the first language that a child learns at hme. S yu’d think that means yur mther language is by default yur strngest, mst cmfrtable language, right? Wrng. Learning r relearning a heritage language can sund pretty intimidating at first. But the hard wrk invested prves t be rewarding and wrthwhile. What culd be a strnger persnal cnnectin than the cnnectin with family heritage?

Every small twn has its share f talented, enterprising (进取心的) peple, but they can’t d it alne. They need visitrs and ideas frm elsewhere. And peple need t direct their psitive energy and talent in the same directin, and cme up with a theme,a stry fr their twn t tell.
Hw did Sissn play a rle in Munt Shasta’s transfrmatin?
By prmting cultural events.B. By setting up a new industry.
C. By expanding recreatinal pprtunities.D. By investing in educatinal develpment.

What is stressed as a key factr in the successful reinventin f small twns?

C. Accepting fresh ideas.D. Training skillful talents.
What wuld be the best title fr the text?
Small twns need a plan BB. The reinventin f turism
