Madagascar is hme t amazing frest ecsystems, many f which are at risk due t human activities. UNESCO’s prfessinal training prgramme is giving hands-n skills t ver 60 yung peple, unlcking new careers with envirnmental effrts.
Jean, a yung lcal guy, wrked fr a lng time as a day laburer, taking n varius dangerus jbs in cnstructin. “I culd nly earn abut $7 per day at such dangerus cnditins,” he explains.
His situatin changed cmpletely when he jined UNESCO’s BIOCOM prject training prgramme, which aims t give jb chices f preventing the destructive use f frest resurces and supprting envirnmental prtectin fr cmmunities living in and arund Madagascar’s natinal parks. After the training, Jean became a metalwrker and created ec-friendly park facilities, like trash bins and signpsts, reducing wd cnsumptin. He nw earns $20 daily, prving green jbs pay better and prtect frests.
Despite Jean’s individual success, there are brader challenges. In his cmmunity, many yung peple face challenges in cmpleting educatin and btaining training. Half f thse wh enter secndary schl fail t graduate. Lacking pprtunities, many turn t harvest resurces directly in the surrunding natinal parks, ften in unsustainable ways, which threatens the ther tw BIOCOM prject sites: Marjejy Natinal Park and Andhahela Natinal Park, bth f which have been n the List f Wrld Heritage in Danger since 2010.
UNESCO’s prgram equips reginal yuth with skills fr green careers. This helps prevent unsustainable lcal practices, such as cutting dwn trees illegally and veruse f firewd.
Fr Jean, the impact f these training prgrams ges beynd himself. “Thanks t these training prgrams, we’ve becme pineers, shwing the yung in ur villages that ther career paths are ut there and within reach,” he said. Jean’s example shws sustainable wrk can rebuild cmmunities. UNESCO’s training prgramme in Madagascar lights hpe, benefiting bth the yung and the envirnment in the lng run.

Swimming rbts play a key rle in mapping pllutin, studying water ecsystems, and mnitring water quality in sensitive areas. Hwever, many previus devices rely n nisy prpellers (螺旋桨), which can d harm t wildlife. The natural elements in these envirnments als challenge rbtic swimmers. T address these issues, researchers at EPFL’s Schl f Engineering have develped a multi-functinal swimming rbt.
Smaller than a credit card and weighing 6 grams, the swimming rbt, inspired by sea flatwrms, is ideal fr envirnments with limited space like rice fields, r fr perfrming examinatins in waterbrne machines. It can travel thrugh narrw spaces and transprt gds much heavier than itself. Unlike traditinal prpeller-based systems, the EPFL rbt mves thrugh water using wave-like fins (鳍) withut nise. This design, cmbined with
its light weight, allws the rbt t flat n water and mix in naturally with its surrundings.
“Our design desn’t simply cpy nature; it ges beynd what natural creatures can achieve. By swinging its fins 10 times faster than sea flatwrms, the rbt can reach an impressive speed f 12 cm (2. 6 bdy-lengths) per secnd. Thanks t its special fins, it has excellent mbility, capable f swimming frward, backward, sideways and turning,” explains EPFL researcher Flrian.
T drive the rbt, the researchers have develped a unique electrnic cntrl system that is envirnmentally safe. Light sensrs act as simple eyes, allwing the rbt t sense and fllw light surces by itself.
They expect this rbt will help in areas like envirnmental mnitring and studies, pllutin tracking, and mdern agriculture. Fr instance, in pllutin tracking, it can quickly find the surces f pllutants, whether
chemical spills in industrial znes r il leaks in tight cean envirnments, by cnstantly cllecting and analyzing data. Their next gal invlves building a mre reliable platfrm fr field tests.
“We aim t extend perating times and enhance autnmy,” says Hartmann. “The insights gained frm this prject will nt nly advance the science f biinspired rbtics but als lay the fundatin fr practical, lifelike rbtic systems that harmnize with nature.”
What is the unique feature f the new swimming rbt?
It can widen tight spaces.B.It can prduce fresh water. C.It is prpeller-pwered and lightweight. D.It is nise-free and flexible.
What are Flrian’s statements aimed at in paragraph 3?
Describing the testing prcess.B.Pinting ut limitatins in design. C.Stressing technical advancement.D.Praising the highest mving speed.
What des paragraph 5 mainly tell us cncerning the new rbt?
Its energy cnsumptin mdes.B.Its mnitring strategies. C.Its reliability in gathering infrmatin. D.Its pssible applicatins.
Where is the text mst prbably taken frm?
      A.A bk review.B.A scientific jurnal.
      C.A business reprt.D.An fficial dcument.
Traditinal sensry and cnsumer testing is ften dne in separated rms. The issue with this is that fd is nt cnsumed in such envirnments, but rather in envirnments with varius cntextual elements that influence human behavir and perceptin (感知) f fd. By nt including scial elements, respnses frm participants may nt be reflective f real-life perceptins f fd. Therefre, a new Ohi study aims t intrduce scial elements t
sensry and cnsumer tests using immersive technlgies such as vide walls and VR headphnes.
In the study, a ttal f 150 participants were divided int three grups. They were presented with a carbnated cla and a flat cla in unmarked cups in three different envirnments: in an individual cntext, in a scial cntext where pairs f participants sat side by side, and in anther scial cntext where vide ftage f each participant’s partner cnsuming a cla was played n a vide wall. T recrd their emtinal respnses, participants rated their feelings immediately after tasting each cla, using a 7-pint scale ( 量 表 ), where I
represented “extremely negative” and 7 represented “extremely psitive”. The higher the scre, the strnger the
      willingness t cnsume.
The data shwed that in the individual cntext grup, the average psitive respnse scre fr the carbnated cla was 4.2, while fr the flat cla it was nly 2.5. In the c-presence scial cntext grup, the average psitive respnse scre fr the carbnated cla increased t 5.8, and fr the flat cla, it rse t 4.1. Similarly, in the virtual scial cntext grup, the average psitive respnse scres fr the carbnated cla and the flat cla were 5.8 and 4.1 respectively. The findings suggested that psitive respnses t bth stimuli were significantly higher in the tw
scial cnditins than in the individual cnditin. Ntably, the tw scial cnditins never differed n any emtinal measures.
“We shuld explre ther virtual scial settings and different grups (friends r strangers), and expand testing t mre kinds f fds r drinks,” said Rth Gldberg, leader f the study. “Imprtantly, we must examine whether these findings can be practically applied in restaurants r prduct develpment.”
What is the main prblem with traditinal sensry and cnsumer testing?
It is influenced by fd quality.B.It ignres scial cntexts.
      C.It takes t much time t cmplete.D.It can’t rate emtinal respnses.
What des the underlined wrd “stimuli” in paragraph 3 refer t?
Types f tested drinks.B.Data cllectin tls.
      C.Pairs f participants.D.Virtual envirnments.
What can be learned frm the testing?
VR technlgy des nt wrk as expected.
The quality f cla determines respnse scres. C.Individual testing reflects perceptin f fd best. D.Virtual scial elements can imprve drink cnsumptin.
What is Rth Gldberg’s suggestin abut?
Scial effects f the findings.B.Directins fr further study. C.Chices f research methds.D.Invlvement f mre researchers.
In running, training yur bdy is f great imprtance. Yur lungs, legs and heart d mst f the wrk.
36 Research has shwn the incredible influence f mental cnditins n perfrmance. Here are sme mental
      techniques t imprve yur running.
Sme runs may be a perid f hard wrk, and the mre yu try t run thrugh it, the wrse yu feel. 37
This allws yu t feel better the next day. When yu let yur brain rest, it sets yur bdy up t feel safe. The brain
says, “I can listen t my bdy, and I can take care f my bdy.” This trust relaxes yu, making runs mre enjyable.
Psitive self-talk imprves perfrmance f runners in ht cnditins. It indeed cntributes t better results. Interventins ( 干预) including self-talk training are mre effective, which redirect yur mind frm discmfrt, tiredness r ther ideas that might get in yur way. Fr example, yu think t yurself “I can d this” — yu’re actively nt thinking r engaging in negative thughts. 38
If yu need t make a run mre fun, challenge yurself t a speed play. Fr example, run slw fr 30 secnds, then medium fr 10 secnds, then fast fr 20 secnds.39Try running slwly t ne tree, then
ging at a reasnable pace t a mailbx.
40 When yu train yur mind, yu can make runs that feel great happen mre ften. When yu get
hme frm a successful run, make a nte — literally pen t paper r n yur phne — f the reasns why it felt gd. It will be a reminder f why yu started running in the first place.
A.Yu can als use bjects as markers.
B.Give yurself the ptin t try again. C.Training yur mind is just as essential, thugh. D.Preparatins befre running are really necessary. E.Yu’re advised t increase yur training intensity.
F.Perfrming a mental review is strngly recmmended.
G.It shuts them ff by fcusing n smething else and quiets anxieties.

根据第一段中“Traditinal sensry and cnsumer testing is ften dne in separated rms. The issue with this is that fd is nt cnsumed in such envirnments, but rather in envirnments with varius cntextual elements that influence human behavir and perceptin f fd. By nt including scial elements, respnses frm participants may nt be reflective f real-life perceptins f fd.
根据第二段中“In the study, a ttal f 150 participants were divided int three grups. They were presented with a carbnated cla and a flat cla in unmarked cups in three different envirnments(在这项研究中,共有 150 名参与者被分为三组。 故选 A。
根据第二段中“The higher the scre, the strnger the willingness t cnsume.(得分越高,消费意愿越强)”和第三段中“In the c-presence scial cntext grup, the average psitive respnse scre fr the
carbnated cla increased t 5.8, and fr the flat cla, it rse t 4.1. Similarly, in the virtual scial cntext grup, the average psitive respnse scres fr the carbnated cla and the flat cla were 5.8 and 4.1 respectively. The findings suggested that psitive respnses t bth stimuli were significantly higher in the tw scial cnditins than in the individual cnditin. Ntably, the tw scial cnditins never differed n any emtinal measures.(在实际共
根据最后一段中““We shuld explre ther virtual scial settings and different grups (friends r strangers), and expand testing t mre kinds f fds r drinks,” said Rth Gldberg, leader f the study. “Imprtantly, we must examine whether these findings can be practically applied in restaurants r prduct develpment.”(该研究的负责人 Rth Gldberg 表示:“我们应该探索其他虚拟社交场景和不同的群体(朋友

故填 have been listed。
根据时间状语 in 1978 可知,空处需用一般过去时;从句主语 which 指代先行词 The Bianzhng f Marquis Yi f Zeng,与动词 discver 之间是被动关系,所以空处需用一般过去时的被动语态:was/were dne,主语是单数,所以空处 be 动词需用 was。故填 was discvered。 59. 故填 the。
故填 in。
根据空前“spends s much funds in safeguarding it, shares best practices”和空后 “maintains this register”可知,空处需用连词 and 连接三个并列的谓语。故填 and。
