This bk is abut dying, but it is nt pessimistic. Indeed, it was a pleasant surprise t find that this bk is filled with jy and hpe. Mrrie’s bravery twards the end f his life is inspiratinal and has made me value my wn life mre. In fact, far frm being a bk abut death, it’s a bk abut life, As Mrrie says, “Once yu learn hw t die, yu learn hw t live.” As Mrrie anticipates his wn death, he bserves everything as thugh thrugh new eyes — the things arund him seem mre beautiful than ever befre and hld new meanings. On the 11th Tuesday, Mrrie explains that “... the big things-hw we think, what we value — thse yu must chse yurself. Yu can’t let anyne — r any sciety — determine thse fr yu”. While we are living, we tend t get distracted by unimprtant things, such as gathering material pssessins. I think it’s imprtant fr yung peple t knw that making a lt f mney wn’t always make them happy, r that lking different desn’t make persn abnrmal! It’s up t us t find ut what is imprtant in ur lives and establish ur wn values. Mrrie says that mst peple “seem half-asleep”, even when they’re ding things they think are imprtant. Reading this bk made me feel as if I’d been wken up frm a lng sleep and finally pened my eyes t the wrld!
Marty
Despite its widespread recgnitin, my first impressin was that Tuesdays with Mrrie is just made up f cllectin f ver-emtinal thughts and messages, many f which are repeated. But thinking back, it did teach me a lessn r tw. The bk made me stp and think abut hw much I am influenced by ppular culture and the imprtance f creating my wn values based n lve and pen cmmunicatin. Althugh it isn’t my favurite bk, I’d still recmmend that peple read it — after all, it is smething that’s a bit different!
