sign /saɪn/ [名词] ①手势
I talked with him by signs. 我和他用手势交谈。

[拓展] sign 还可作动词，意为“签(名)；签字”，既可作及物动词，又可作不及物动词。

2. Hw the speakers cmmunicate 说话者是如何交流的 (教材第 72 页，1b)
speaker /′spi:kə(r)/ [名词] ①说话者
speaker 作可数名词，由“动词 speak＋名词后缀 -er”构成。
The speaker is n the stage nw. 说话者现在正在台上。
speaker ②发言者；演讲者
A gd speaker shuld knw hw t excite the listeners.一个好的演讲者应该知道如何使听众兴奋起来。
speaker ④扬声器

pick up 开车接 (某人)；(通常指开车) 接载，取走
是“动词＋副词”型短语，如果宾语是代词，代词放 pick 与 up 中间；如果宾语是名词，名词放pick 与 up 的中间或 up 的后面。

① 捡起；拾起；拿起；提起
