The musical instrument I first learned was the vilin, which was as small as a kid’s ty, when I was six years ld. After six years f being a vilin learner, I decided t take n a new challenge: the cell (大提琴). My mm fund an experienced cell teacher, Ms. Kim, wh agreed t teach me in her cell studi.
At first, the pieces I played n the cell were simple and uninspiring. Hwever, everything changed when Ms. Kim ffered me a challenging piece named “Capricci”. My dad, wh was excited abut the music that I wuld play, believed mastering this piece was as impssible as a tiger flying in the sky. My mm lked up “Capricci” n YuTube, her eyes widening as she watched a musician perfrm it with grace and intensity, realizing hw difficult the piece truly was. I felt a mix f excitement and anxiety.
“Capricci” requires many techniques, and learning them was ften frustrating. One particularly tugh challenge was pressing several ntes with my thumb, which caused me tears as I struggled with the pain. My fingers felt awkward, and I wrried I wuld never get it right. One day, after a particularly tiring practice sessin, Ms. Kim suggested I fcus mre n the dynamics f the piece. I misinterpreted her advice, thinking she was frustrated with my slw prgress. This dubt made me questin my ability and Ms. Kim’s belief in me, fueling my frustratin with the cell.
After a challenging practice ne afternn, feeling defeated, I finally pened up t Ms. Kim abut my feelings. I shared my struggles and fears, expecting her t scld me fr my lack f prgress.
