根据第三段中的“Carina Spaulding, the agency’s head f research and evaluatin said the greatest barrier t reading was usually a lack f time(该机构研究与评估负责人卡琳娜・斯波尔丁表示,阅读的最大障碍通常是缺乏时间)” 可知,英国成年人阅读的主要挑战是时间有限。
根据第五段中的“but a grup in Plymuth has fund fellwship thrugh enjying bks tgether.(但普利茅斯的一个团体通过一起享受书籍找到了友谊)”中“but”表转折,说明前后情况相反,后面提到一起享受书籍找到友谊,那么前面 “Mst imagine reading t be a slitary pastime” 意思是大多数人认为阅读是一种独自进行的消遣。

The atmsphere f a distant wrld, WASP-121b (als knwn as Tyls), has been mapped in detail fr the first time, revealing a strange weather system, with the fastest winds ever seen blwing arund the planet’s stratsphere (平流层).
Astrnmers have studied Tyls since 2015. The planet, 900 light years away, is a vast ball f gas duble the size f Jupiter, rbiting its star extremely clsely and cmpleting a full rbit in just 30 Earth hurs. This clse rbit heats the planet’s atmsphere t temperatures f 2500℃, ht enugh t bil irn.
Julia Seidel at the Eurpean Suthern Observatry in Chile and her clleagues have lked inside Tyls’s extremely ht atmsphere using the bservatry’s Very Large Telescpe, and they fund it has at least three distinct layers (层) f gas mving in different directins arund the planet — a structure unlike anything astrnmers have ever seen.
The planetary atmspheres in ur slar system share a bradly similar structure t ne anther, where a jet stream f pwerful winds blwing in the lwer part f the atmsphere is driven by internal temperature differences, while winds in the upper layers are mre affected by temperature differences created by the sun’s heat, which warms the daylight side f the planet but nt the ther.
Yet in Tyls’s atmsphere, it is the winds in the lwer layer that are driven by heat frm the planet’s star, travelling away frm the warm side, while the jet stream appears t be mstly in the middle layer f the atmsphere, travelling arund Tyls’s equatr in the directin f the planet’s rtatin (旋转). An upper layer f hydrgen als shws jetstream-like features, flwing arund the planet but als mving utwards int space.
What’s mre, the jet stream n Tyls is the mst pwerful ever seen, blasting at arund 70,000 kilmetres per hur acrss half the planet — duble the speed f the previus recrd hlder. Exactly what is driving this speed is unclear.
“This is difficult t explain using ur current mdels,” says Seidel. “What we see nw is actually the ppsite f what cmes ut f thery.”
      32. What is a feature f Tyls’s atmsphere?
      A. It is unaffected by the star’s heat.
      B. It is cler than Earth’s atmsphere.
      C. It has the mst cmplex weather system.
      D. It has multiple layers f gas mving differently
      33. Hw des the star’s heat affect Tyls’s atmspheric layers?
      A. It keeps the middle layer warm.
      B. It drives winds in the lwer layer.
      C. It cntrls the jet stream’s directin.
      D. It causes hydrgen t mve utwards.
      34. What’s astrnmers’ attitude twards the findings n Tyls?
      A. Cnfused.B. Dubtful.
      C. Dismissive.D. Critical.
      35. Hw is the text develped?
      A. By giving an example.B. By listing numbers.
      C. By making a cmparisn.D. By presenting a definitin.
D 33. B 34. A 35. C

根据第三段中的“Julia Seidel at the Eurpean Suthern Observatry in Chile and her clleagues have lked inside Tyls’s extremely ht atmsphere using the bservatry’s Very Large Telescpe, and they fund it has at least three distinct layers (层) f gas mving in different directins arund the planet — a structure unlike anything astrnmers have ever seen.
根据第五段中的“Yet in Tyls’s atmsphere, it is the winds in the lwer layer that are driven by heat frm the planet’s star, travelling away frm the warm side, while the jet stream appears t be mstly in the middle layer f the atmsphere, travelling arund Tyls’s equatr in the directin f the planet’s rtatin (旋转).
根据最后一段中的““This is difficult t explain using ur current mdels,” says Seidel. “What we see nw is actually the ppsite f what cmes ut f thery.” 故选A项。
根据第四段“The planetary atmspheres in ur slar system share a bradly similar structure t ne anther, where a jet stream f pwerful winds blwing in the lwer part f the atmsphere is driven by internal temperature differences, while winds in the upper layers are mre affected by temperature differences created by the sun’s heat, which warms the daylight side f the planet but nt the ther.( 我们太阳系中的行星大气层结构大致相似:在大气层下部,由内部温度差异驱动形成强劲的急流风;而在上层大气中,风则更多受到太阳热量产生的温差影响 —— 太阳会加热行星的日照一侧,而另一侧则不会。)”及第五段“Yet in Tyls’s atmsphere, it is the winds in the lwer layer that are driven by heat frm the planet’s star, travelling away frm the warm side, while the jet stream appears t be mstly in the middle layer f the atmsphere, travelling arund Tyls’s equatr in the directin f the planet’s rtatin (旋转).(然而,在泰洛斯(Tyls)的大气层中,下层的风是由这颗行星所环绕的恒星发出的热量驱动的,从温暖的一侧向外流动,而急流似乎主要位于大气层的中间层,沿着泰洛斯的赤道,按行星自转的方向运动。)”

上文“As seasn three f The White Ltus prepares t push Thailand’s islands int the glbal sptlight, fresh waves f visitrs will be drawn t the already bustling shres f Phuket and Kh Samui.(随着《白莲花度假村》第三季即将把泰国的岛屿推向全球聚光灯下,新一波游客将被吸引到本就熙熙攘攘的普吉岛和苏梅岛海岸)”说明热门剧集将让泰国岛屿更受游客追捧,普吉岛和苏梅岛本就熙熙攘攘。
上文“Heading twards Kh Mak’s suthern shres by speedbat, my first impressin was simple: Glden sand curved int clear shallws, and ccnut palms leaned twards the sea as thugh caught mid-bw.(乘快艇驶向阁玛岛的南岸时,我的第一印象很简单:金色的沙滩蜿蜒伸入清澈的浅滩,椰子树朝着大海倾斜,仿佛正鞠躬致意)”说明作者乘快艇前往阁麦岛南部海岸时的第一印象是金色的沙滩、清澈的海水和椰子树。 “n high-rises, n nisy beach clubs”与后文“cttages peeked thrugh the trees”和“bicycles utnumbered cars”呼应,强调该岛无高楼和喧闹设施的原生态。故选C。
上文“As I cntinued my explratin f Kh Mak, I fund cmpared with Phuket and Kh Samui, which are ften verrun with high-rise resrts and cmmercial chains, Kh Mak priritizes sustainability and the preservatin f its natural beauty ver mass turism.(当我继续探索阁玛岛时,我发现与常被高层度假酒店和商业连锁品牌挤满的普吉岛及苏梅岛相比,阁玛岛更注重可持续发展和自然美景的保护,而非大众旅游业)”指出阁玛岛优先考虑可持续性和自然美景的保护,而非大众旅游。下文“The island’s residents and lcal businesses have cme tgether t create a unique envirnment where nature and cmmunity thrive.(岛上的居民和当地企业携手合作,创造了一个自然与社区蓬勃发展的独特环境)”说明岛上居民和企业为创造一个独特的环境所做的努力。 故选A。
上文“In a wrld where turism ften leads t verdevelpment and envirnmental degradatin, Kh Mak stands ut as a beacn f hpe.
上文“As I cmpleted my brief tur, I was amazed t realize that Kh Mak is nt just a destinatin.(当我结束短暂的旅行时,我惊讶地发现阁玛岛不仅仅是一个目的地)”说明阁玛岛不仅仅是一个旅游目的地。
