Hwever, making the transfrmatin between schl and full-time blue-cllar wrk during the break never gets any easier.       Skill f cpying and mving images nt paper is an art frm shining in histry, Zha Xu reprts. Rubbing, the tracing (描摹) f characters nt a piece f paper, reached its glden age during the Sng Dynasty (960-1279).
      T d this, a thin piece f paper was placed ver the surface f the stne tablet (石板) carved with characters. Then water, r later, ink, was applied smthly t the back f the paper with just the right amunt f pressure, t sften the paper and allw fr a ttal mving f the details nt it.       Repeated hundreds f thusands f times during the Sng era, this hands-n skill enabled educated members f Sng sciety t have a chance t learn frm master calligraphic wrks either frm their wn times r frm earlier dynasties.
