In late spring and early summer each year, tens f millins f butterflies cme ut f their chrysalises (蚕蛹) in the butterfly valley in suthwest China’s Yunnan prvince. Fr butterfly expert Yang Zhenwen, it is the busiest time f the year, but he greets it with great enthusiasm.
Befre the break f dawn, Yang has already arrived at the bservatin pint, busily tending t the needs f the awakening butterflies. “Due t warmer temperatures, the ‘butterfly explsin’ this year ccurred slightly earlier than usual, and the size f the butterflies is larger than that in previus years,” said 46-year-ld Yang, curatr (馆长) f the butterfly valley museum. “We expect that there will be abut 80 millin t 100 millin butterflies in the valley during this year’s ‘butterfly explsin’.
