We all knw hw it feels t get lst in a great bk. But what's happening in ur brains as we dive int it? Hw is it different frm what happens as we experience real life? Nw, a new study led by Dr Leila Wehbe and Dr Tm Mitchell f Carnegie Melln University have prvided partial answers t these questins.
Since reading cmprehensin is a highly cmplex prcess, earlier studies tried t break that prcess dwn and fcus n just ne aspect at a time: mapping fMRI signatures( 特 征 )assciated with prcessing a single wrd r sentence, fr example. "It's usually nt like reading a bk, and usually the stimulus( 刺 激 物 )cnsists f ut-f-cntext sentences designed specifically fr the experiment”
T address these issues, the researchers develped a cmputer prgram t lk fr patterns f brain activity that appeared when peple read certain wrds, specific grammatical structures, particular characters' names and ther aspects f the stry—a ttal f 195 different “stry features”. The result shwed that when the vlunteers read descriptins f physical mvement in the stry, there was significantly increased activity in the psterir tempral crtex, the regin invlved in perceiving real-wrld mvement. Besides dialgue was specifically related with the right temprparietal junctin, a key area invlved in imagining thers thughts and gals. “This is truly shcking fr us as these regins aren't even cnsidered t be part f the brain's language system, ” Wehbe says.

32. What can we learn frm the secnd paragraph?
A. The uniqueness f the new study.
B. The limitatins f previus studies.
C. The unreslved issues in previus studies.
D. The researchers' purpse in cnducting the new study.
33. What did the researchers use the cmputer prgram t d?
A. Develp new tls t imprve reading skills.
B. Examine hw reading stries impacts the human brain.
C. Discver the bilgical basis f reading as a hbby.
D. Explre hw the brain respnds t different stry features.
