It is an effective subsea vehicle, which had been highly praised in this field.
Hwever, their first attempt faced an immediate challenge. Hugin 6000’s majr failure alarm sunded in the extreme cld. Vincent used a retired winch (绞车) with a heater ver t lengthen Hugin 6000’s battery (电池) life. This simple slutin finally allwed fr deep-sea searches.
During deep-sea search, they fund the riginal lcatin marks had mistakes. Frtunately, Frank, an astrnmer f the team, used the team’s star bservatins t crrect the lcatin. With the updated lcatin marks, the team narrwed the search area. Still, the mving ice made even this smaller zne difficult t explre.
After weeks f disappintment, hpe arrived n March 5,2022. They captured a snar (声呐) image f the Endurance’s ple frm the vehicle’s sensrs. “I want t see the ship with the camera!” Vincent shuted with excitement. After many attempts, they eventually tk a clear picture f the bat with a camera. They fund the Endurance in excellent cnditin after being underwater fr 106 years.

During the secnd half f the 20th century, China’s fcus n mass prductin frm high-yield, large terrace plantatins left little rm fr the ld tea trees. Frtunately, the remte lcatin f Jingmai helped prtect the riginal farming methds f Jingmai’s tea. Unlike thse mass-prduced tea trees, the Jingmai’s tea trees grw in Jingmai Muntain frests. Situated 4,000 t 5,000 feet abve sea level, Jingmai’s tea frests benefit frm cl temperatures that allw tea trees t develp leaves with unique flavrs.
Jingmai’s clsely managed lands may be in cntrast t terraced tea plantatins seen thrughut the wrld. High trees there prvides shelter fr tea plants that grw best in shade. The tea plant areas are als divided int different parts, stpping the spread f diseases.
While grwers acrss ther Yunnan tea muntains cut their ancient tea trees t plant yunger, mre prductive trees, the lcals f Jingmai have been prtecting their living treasure. They believe that everything has a sul, a reminder t leave nature undisturbed, s they avid pesticides (农药). They cut grass between the trees nly twice a year and with knives.
A recent study by Minzu University f China fund that tea prduced frm the muntain’s trees was less bitter than tea frm trees planted at lwer altitude. And the natural farming methds supprt a significantly higher bidiversity than cmmn tea gardens. Jingmai tea’s present price is abut 6.5 times higher than that f typical plantatins.
Nw ur gvernment and lcal peple prtect bth the ancient trees and the cultural traditins surrunding them, making sure these living tea museums cntinue fr future generatins.

Greenland sharks are believed t live fr arund 400 years. Nrmally, an animal can’t grw s ld. Over time, falling bdily functins and illnesses like cancer cme up and cause damage. Yet the Greenland shark seems t disbey this pattern.
In 2021, Arne Sahm, a biinfrmatician, decided t find ut reasns fr the sharks’ lng life. Arne Sahm’s team acquired DNA frm the samples (样本) f sharks caught by fishers in the suthern bays f Greenland. They published their findings in September.
One element that std ut was a high amunt f “jumping genes”. Mst rganisms, including humans, have “jumping genes”: genes that cpy themselves int a new sectin f a genetic chain. They can intrduce genetic diversity, but can als be harmful. If DNA is left damaged, “jumping genes” can cntribute t prblems within cells, including cancer. But these “jumping genes” might play a mre beneficial rle in the Greenland shark, creating additinal helpful genes, which culd slw dwn aging. Researchers think the better a genme (基因组) is maintained, the lnger lifespan an rganism culd have.
A gene called TP53 als caught the teams’ attentin. Seen as the “guardian f the genme”, TP53 is vital fr cancer preventin. Many animals have it, including humans. TP53 cntains instructins fr the prtein p53, which helps in tumr suppressin (肿瘤抑制) and DNA repair. P53 wrks by either stpping cells with damaged DNA frm dividing further until it’s repaired, r causing them t die. In Greenland sharks, a part f its TP53 gene chain is different frm hw it typically functins in ther animals. Using an AI mdel, the researchers predicted it culd impact p53’s structure and hw it handles DNA repair, pssibly leading t a lnger life.
Mre studies are needed t cnfirm the functin f the prteins (蛋白质) fund in the Greenland shark’s genme. Lking at gene expressin wuld be ne next step.
12.Hw did Arne Sahm’s team cnduct their research n Greenland sharks?
A.By bserving sharks in the wild.
      B.By tracking sharks with sensrs.
C.By analyzing genes frm shark samples.
D.By testing sharks’ survival ability in labs.
13.What can be inferred (推断) abut “jumping genes” in Greenland sharks?
A.They are unique t Greenland sharks.
      B.They always limit genetic differences.
C.They can cpy themselves t be better genes.
D.They may help live lnger by adding beneficial genes.
14.What helps Greenland sharks live lnger than ther animals accrding t paragraph 4?
A.Their cells divide much faster than in ther animals.
B.Their different TP53 gene might help repair DNA better.
C.Their TP53 gene’s pr functin causes faster cell grwth.
D.They dn’t have the p53 prtein that cntrls cell divisin.
      15.Hw is the passage rganized?
      A.B.C.D.
