Jss Naylr, knwn as the “Irn Man” f fell running, was brn in 1936 in Wasdale Head, Cumbria. Fell running is a sprt f ff-trail muntain racing, and Naylr became a symbl f endurance and determinatin. As a sheep farmer by prfessin, he became famus fr his remarkable physical abilities.
In 1971, Naylr became the sixth persn t cmplete the Bb Graham Rund, a 24-hur challenge cvering 66 miles and 42 peaks in the Lake District. He did better than expected by climbing 61 peaks in just 23 hurs and 37 minutes. The fllwing year, he tackled 63 peaks, and in 1975, he reached 72 peaks, all under 24 hurs. At age 50 in 1986, he cmpleted the Wainwright Rund, which invlved climbing 214peaks in seven days, setting a recrd that std until 2014.
