Mre and mre cuntries are ffering digital nmad (游民) visas and therefre the chance t wrk remtely, frm wherever yu’d like t.
This trend is grwing, with a 2023 reprt indicating 11% f US wrkers identifying as digital nmads, a figure prjected t rise by ver 20 millin in five years. Hadeda ibises, knwn as “African alarm clcks” fr their lud calls, have lng legs and thin beaks (鸟喙) and shiny feathers n their wings. Histrically restricted t nrtheastern Suth Africa, hadedas have significantly expanded their range t many urban areas.
Varius ibises use remte-tuch t detect mvements f prey (猎物) in the sil and lcate their hidden place. This ability is facilitated by a sensry rgan in their beaks, called the bill-tip rgan, which develped during the time f the dinsaurs. My recent research cnfirmed that hadedas have this“sixth sense” and fund it is clsely tied t sil misture (湿度) levels.
We cnducted sensry tests with hadedas in bird cages. We presented them with bxes f sil cntaining buried wrms (虫), masking any sunds with white nise and mixing dead wrms int the sil t remve scent cues (气味线索). The birds cnsistently fund live wrms faster than dead nes, indicating they are able t sense mvements f prey and use remte-tuch t find them.
Further testing revealed that hadedas fund wrms mre quickly in wetter sils. If the sil was t dry, they lst this ability and had t rely n randm searching. These findings suggest that the hadedas’ expansin in SuthAfrica is related t increased artificial watering systems. They require wet sil t use remte-tuch effectively, which culd explain their absence in dry regins. Drughts and heatwaves, expected t wrsen with climate change, culd threaten their ppulatin by making prey detectin mre challenging.
The study highlights the brader implicatins fr ther remte-tuch hunting birds, many f which are already endangered. As sil misture levels decrease, these birds culd becme mre at risk, stressing the imprtance f cnsidering sensry requirements in cnservatin effrts.
8. What d we knw abut hadeda ibises?
A. They are knwn fr shiny feathers.B. They barely see any rise in numbers.
C. They recall images f the dinsaurs.D. They have a specialized sensry rgan.
9. Why were white nise and dead wrms used in the experiment?
A. T get a mre reliable result.B. T add experimental items.
C. T cpy natural habitats.D. T avid disturbing the subjects.
10. What des the research suggest abut the impact f climate change n hadedas?
A. Climate change will decrease their reliance n sil misture.
B. Drughts culd make it mre difficult fr them t find prey.
C. Increased rainfall will help them relcate t urbanized areas.
D. Rising temperatures culd increase their feeding efficiency.
11. What des the text mainly talk abut?
A. The specialty f hadedas’ rgans.B. The masters f dry land hunting.
C. Hadedas’ prey detectin in wet sil.D. Hadedas ibises’ urban expansin.

AI is currently being used in varius ways. S what des that mean? Des it mean the wrld will sn be verrun by rbts? Hwever, when it cmes t custmer service, AI cannt cmpletely replace human interactin, fr nw at least.
Actually, all custmer service interactins have tw aspects: emtin and urgency. New AI tls can handle high-urgency situatins quickly, but as t high-emtin situatins, n AI can deal with them successfully. A rbt might be able t recgnize yu’re trying t check in fr a flight recently canceled, but the emtinal aspect is entirely un-prgrammable. Perhaps the passenger has increasingly high emtins abut the flight being canceled because he is flying t an imprtant business meeting. Cases like this can create high-stress mments fr the custmer. Only a persn can understand the difference.
High-stress mments tend t stay with custmers frever, s it’s imprtant t have a plan in place. Gd cmpanies are better at determining which cases AI can handle n its wn and which cases need t be handled by a human with AI assistance. In high-emtin cases, there’s n substitute (替补) fr the persnal tuch f a human. Passengers whse luggage is lst are ging t seek ut an emplyee t help them lcate their bags. Althugh AI can be used t lcate their bags, it can hardly deal with passengers’ high emtins.
The cnversatin arund AI nw is t fcused n the questin f hw AI can replace human interactin, which is missing the pint. The aim f AI shuldn’t be t replace human interactin, but t imprve it. The questin here wn’t be hw far we can push AI, but hw we can use ur imaginatin t cntinue reinventing (改良) the prblem-slving prcess.
12. What is implied in paragraph 1?
A. AI has had cntrl ver the human being.
B. AI can ttally replace human interactin.
C. AI can handle high-emtin cases easily.
D. AI still has its wn limitatins at present.
13. Why is the example f a canceled flight mentined in paragraph 2?
A. T highlight the passengers’ high emtins.
B. T prve the efficiency f AI handling urgency.
C. T shw AI can handle high-emtin cases well.
D. T stress the advantage a persn has ver AI.
14. Why shuld cmpanies have a plan fr high-stress mments?
A. High-stress mments require mre AI tls.
B. High-stress mments can be handled by AI alne.
C. High-stress mments are unfrgettable fr custmers.
D. High-stress mments are ignred by mst cmpanies.
15. What will we fcus n when using AI t handle custmer service?
A. Replacing humans with new AI tls.
B. Paying attentin t slving prblems.
C. Aviding making truble fr custmers.
D. Trying t invent mre new AI tls.

根据第一段中“Mre and mre cuntries are ffering digital nmad (游民) visas and therefre the chance t wrk remtely, frm wherever yu’d like t. (越来越多的国家开始提供数字游民签证,从而为人们提供了远程工作的机会,无论你想在哪里工作都可以)”可知,数字游民的优势在于工作地点灵活。故选C项。
【5题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“Initially, digital nmads were mstly freelancers like scial media managers r sftware develpers, but nw even traditinal prfessinals like accuntants and lawyers are embracing this lifestyle. (最初,数字游牧民大多是自由职业者,如社交媒体经理或软件开发人员,但现在,即使是会计师和律师等传统专业人士也在接受这种生活方式)”可知,最初数字游民多为自由职业者,博主属于此类。故选A项。
根据画线词的上文“They have a “hme base” in Spain but frequently g away(他们在西班牙有一个“大本营”,但经常去国外)”下文“that can last frm weeks t mnths. She says, “cmpared t a traditinal mdel f raising children, remte wrking has allwed my family t mve away frm that kind f intensity, and this way, we all get t mve at a mre sustainable and healthy pace.” Plus, her family are regularly expsed t new cultures, languages and natural beauty.
D 9. A 10. B 11. C

根据第二段中“Varius ibises use remte tuch t detect mvements f prey (猎物) in the sil and lcate their hidden place. This ability is facilitated by a sensry rgan in their beaks, called the bill tip rgan, which develped during the time f the dinsaurs. (各种朱鹭利用远程触觉来探测土壤中猎物的移动并定位它们的藏身之处。这种能力得益于它们喙中的一种感觉器官,叫做喙尖器官,它在恐龙时代就已经形成了)”可知,噪鹮有一个专门的感觉器官。故选D项。
【9题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“We presented them with bxes f sil cntaining buried wrms (虫), masking any sunds with white nise and mixing dead wrms int the sil t remve scent cues (气味线索). The birds cnsistently fund live wrms faster than dead nes, indicating they are able t sense mvements f prey and use remte tuch t find them. (我们给它们提供装有埋着虫子的土壤盒子,用白噪音掩盖任何声音,并将死虫子混入土壤中以消除气味线索。这些鸟总是比找到死虫子更快地找到活虫子,这表明它们能够感知猎物的移动并利用远程触觉来找到它们)”可知,使用白噪音和死虫子是为了排除声音和气味线索的干扰,从而得到更可靠的实验结果,证明噪鹮是通过远程触觉感知猎物的。故选A项。
根据第四段中“Drughts and heatwaves, expected t wrsen with climate change, culd threaten their ppulatin by making prey detectin mre challenging. (随着气候变化,预计干旱和热浪将加剧,这可能会使猎物探测变得更具挑战性,从而威胁到它们的数量)”可知,干旱会让噪鹮更难找到猎物。故选B项。
【11题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第二段中“My recent research cnfirmed that hadedas have this ‘sixth sense’ and fund it is clsely tied t sil misture (湿度) levels. (我最近的研究证实,噪鹮有这种‘第六感’,并发现它与土壤湿度水平密切相关)”以及后文围绕噪鹮在不同湿度土壤中探测猎物的研究内容可知,本文主要讲的是噪鹮在湿润土壤中探测猎物的情况。故选C项。
