As a writer myself, writing petry has always served as my catharsis This drve me immediately tward petry therapy (治疗) when I was ffered the pprtunity t develp a 12-week grup curriculum at my first-year placement. It was t help adults with mental illness and / r develpmental disabilities. I wanted t share the therapeutic catharsis I have always fund in writing with these adults, helping them find and develp their inner vice.
The grup, named Pathway t Petry, was rted in petry therapy and reading therapy, as well as built upn a cgnitive (认知的) behaviral framewrk. Alng the way, clients als learned petic frms and rhetrical devices, such as haiku and metaphr.
The clients in my grup all already knew each ther; many had knwn each ther fr several years. As a result, these clients didn’t need t jump thrugh all the hps f usual grup develpment t share and write abut vulnerable (敏感的) tpics. I think I was lucky enugh t experience grup dynamics and scial inclusin in this way.
As the grup prgressed, the writing became deeper n ther levels. I prvided members with a hmewrk assignment in which they were t cmplete an “erasure” pem It’s a pem that takes an already established piece f writing and erases unnecessary wrds t create a new pem. Fr this particular assignment, I prvided members with a selectin frm A Farewell t Arms by Ernest Hemingway. All clients did beautifully with this assignment, even thse wh ften cmplained f the difficulty they had with writing and frming wrds and ideas.
In the last week I asked members fr feedback abut the grup. Members threw many praises ut there, but what eched (附和) mst thrughut the grup was having a vice and having a cmfrtable space t talk abut imprtant issues such as emtins, family, relatinships lve, grief/ lss, and mental health. What they least liked was having hmewrk assignments.
By far, the mst cmmn questin I received frm ther fellw prfessinals was: Hw did clients receive the petry as a whle? The answer was and is: with pen arms.

Yet sprt can be a pwerful mtivatr: it can unite whle natins behind its teams. Culd sprt have a rle t play in driving climate awareness? D. Hw did Blt cntribute t the envirnment?
      13. Why des the writer use Will Gadd and Amy Steel as examples?
      A. They initiated ec-friendly sprts practices.
      B. They sustained permanent injuries in sprts.

      A. Sprts in the Climate Crisis
      B. Athletes against Glbal Heating
      C. The Impact f Climate Change n Sprt

由文章第三段中“When ice-climber Will Gadd set ut t cnquer the wrld’s glaciers, he didn’t realize it wuld becme a race against climate change. “I thught glaciers are there frever.” When he arrived at the summit, Gadd was shcked: “The ice…wasn’t there. 【14题详解】
细节理解题。由文章第四段中“Nt nly that, but extreme weather events made mre frequent as a result f glbal heating mean sprting events are mre ften delayed r canceled. This has cst sprt billins in ptential earnings. (不仅如此,由于全球变暖,极端天气事件更加频繁,这意味着体育赛事更经常被推迟或取消。这让体育界损失了数十亿美元的潜在收入)”可知,全球变暖造成体育运动重大财务损失。故选B。
      【15题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段最后一句“We take sprt fr granted, but d we ever cnsider its cst t the planet?(我们认为体育运动是理所当然的,但我们是否考虑过它给地球带来的代价)”以及第三段第一句“This is strange, given that the effect wrks bth ways: the climate crisis is nt just affected by sprts, but it is already having a negative impact n many sprts.(这很奇怪,因为这种效应是双向的:气候危机不仅受到体育运动的影响,而且它已经对许多体育运动产生了负面影响)”,尤其是文章最后一段中“Sprt must put climate change at the tp f its agenda and decarbnize at a Usain Blt-like pace t make a difference. (体育必须把气候变化放在议程的首位,以尤塞恩·博尔特那样的速度去碳化,才能有所作为)”可知,本文主要说明了气候危机与体育运动的关系。由此可知,Sprts in the Climate Crisis(气候危机中的体育运动)适合作本文最佳标题。故选A。
