The pen surce AR mncle (单片眼镜) Chiang used was designed by Brilliant Labs and features a camera, a micrphne and an internal prjectr screen which displays wrds. Chiang and his friends cded RizzGPT t mnitr cnversatins using the micrphne, transfrm them int text and relay them t ChatGPT ver WiFi t generate a respnse, which then appears n the mncle screen after a shrt delay.
“RizzGPT basically uses AI t help yu n demand, s it listens t yur current nging cnversatin and tells yu exactly what t say next,” said Chiang. Chiang was quick t stress that his device still had sme prblems which culd make text difficult fr ChatGPT t read and that the 5-secnd time delay culd make users feel a little awkward.
“RizzGPT isn’t intended t replace cnversatins. It’s mstly like a passin, a persnal kind f prject. And the gal here is nt t cmmercialize it int a prduct immediately, but just t shw peple new ways f interacting with rapidly advancing technlgy,” Chiang said. “It’s really just meant t inspire yu, nt t tell yu exactly what t say. I think in that rle it culd be incredibly helpful fr peple wh struggle with scial anxiety and have difficulty talking t thers.”

In early August, the sandy hills alng the cast f La Libertad, in nrthern Peru, are full f bluish-purple fruit. The blueberry harvest is just weeks away in a desert thught unfriendly t berries just ver a decade ag. Nw, the dry regin is placing Peru at the frefrnt f the glbal blueberry market.
As he walks thrugh the bushes Alvar Espinza leans in, his eyes widening at s many blueberries. The agricultural engineer was amng the first t experiment with grwing blueberries in Peru. “Peple called me crazy,” he recalls.
Inspired by the success f their Chilean neighbrs, Peru began explring a lcal blueberry market in the early 2000s. But finding the right variety tk years f trial and errr. Carls Gereda, a pineer in the industry, and CEO f Inka’s Berries, was the first t identify a blueberry variety that culd cpe with the Peruvian shre. It tk him tw years t find the right ne, named Bilxi. With this variety identified, Peru’s blueberry fields crss ver 49,000 acres, and the cuntry ships mre than twice as many blueberries abrad as its clsest rival (对手).
But last year, Peru’s blueberry industry faced its first setback. A majr heat wave driven by an El Niñ event hit its nrthern cast. Temperatures sht up 40°F abve average. The heat destryed sme blueberry varieties, and prductin drpped by 25 percent. “Agriculture is like this - nthing is certain,” says Gereda. “There are mments when ut f nwhere, a pwerful climate event frces yu t rethink everything.”
This experience, alng with the expectatin f rising temperatures due t climate change, has sped up effrts t develp new, genetically imprved blueberry varieties that can flurish (茁壮生长) in even htter climates. Inka’ s Berries has just released tw new varieties, bth f which can flurish withut cld temperatures.

Scientists are recruiting (招募) sme unusual recruits in their effrts t frecast earthquakes, vlcanic eruptins and ther natural phenmena. They are enrlling thusands f dgs, gats, and ther farmyard animals — as well as a wide range f wildlife — in studies that will mnitr their mvements frm space.
The prgramme uses tiny transmitters (发射器) that are being fitted t creatures. The detailed mvements f these creatures will then be mnitred frm a special satellite t be launched next year. “Ultimately, we hpe t launch a fleet f arund six satellites and establish a glbal bservatin netwrk that will nt nly prvide details f wildlife mvements during migratin (迁徙) and animal health acrss the planet but reveal hw creatures respnd t natural phenmena like earthquakes,” said the prject leader, Martin Wikelski, f the Max Planck Institute f Animal Behaviur in Germany.
The value f studying tagged (做标记的) animals in this latter area has already been demnstrated in early experiments in Sicily, said Wikelski last week. “We have fund the behaviur f gats is pretty gd at predicting large vlcaniceruptins.” Sensrs have shwn the animals becme nervus befre an eruptin and refuse t mve t where they wuld nrmally be happy t visit. “They knw befrehand what is cming. We dn’t knw hw they d it, but they d,” said Wikelski.
Because f a revlutin in tagging technlgy, tiny digital transmitters — using small batteries — and cheap and plentiful GPS devices have made it pssible t make tags that are nly a few grams in weight. “We are nw able t track mst things. Understanding hw creatures react t gelgical changes is nly ne area f interest in that revlutin,” added Wikelski. “Fr instance, we can survey wildlife health frm space.” By mnitring tagged animals, scientists can timely detect an utbreak f an infectius disease in the wild, which culd be imprtant fr cntrlling the disease’s impact n farms. The technlgy shuld als help scientists t understand the prcesses that drive animal migratins. “Similarly, we will be able t study animal ppulatins t determine hw they are respnding t habitat changes caused by glbal warming,” said Wikelski.
      12. Why are varius animals recruited in the study?
      A. T identify animal species.B. T test digital transmitters.
      C. T prtect animal habitats.D. T predict natural disasters.

A small slar-pwered light was even brught t shw additinal examples f hw slar energy wrked. As visitrs began t stream in, I std by my mdel, ready t answer any questins they wuld thrw t me.
By turning a dial t simulate (模仿) the angle f the sun, visitrs saw hw it affected the amunt f energy my mdel culd cllect. This hands-n cmpnent made my display mre engaging and helped visitrs understand the science behind slar pwer in a mre vivid way.
