The US gvernment is beginning t hand ut billins f dllars int infrastructure (基础设施) spending t better the US water system, much f which will g t imprving strmwater systems. But sme scientists and city planners are pushing t fund prjects that are better adapted t the changing climate. Instead f just gray infrastructure, supprters say the answer is green.
Green infrastructure, whether large rain gardens r plants alng streets, has the same purpse as big strm pipes: t manage large amunts f water that can build up during heavy rains. Green infrastructure can als help when it’s nt raining. Summer heat waves are ften mre dangerus in cities, because cncrete (水泥) takes in heat in line with what’s knwn as the “urban heat island” effect. Plants and parks can prvide much needed cling.

    A. Raising funds fr infrastructure.B. Beautifying the city appearances.
    C. Replacing the functin f strm pipes.D. Easing the stress f the strm water system.
